In your opinion - what's the WORST Pixar movie?

The only reason they made a sequel is because the first movie produced the most lucrative merchandise of any Pixar movie to date. Go into any disney store. The cars section takes up 1/4 of the store.

Um, the people have not spoken. Let's wait a few weeks before we start saying that. (Or, you know, never.)

Not sure if you're being serious or not.

Anyways. Spill.com has an audio review up and the film is just not clicking with them. At best, they give it a rental, but CoHost gave this movie "some ol'bullsh&%" which the other guys didn't seem to refute or argue against.

I think what we're dealing with here is a two hour "Larry the Cable Guy" movie who's humor seems to heavily rely on car related puns that disguises itself as with the story from "North by North West". MovieBob praised this film for abandoning the character drama aspects that the first film since Cars 2 just sticks to all the gimmicks of an action/spy/comedy movie and nothing more. So far, this is what I think.

For:
- Car lovers
- Larry the Cable Guy fans
- "Cars" Toy collectors
- Die hard Pixar fans
- "Turn you brain off" audiences
- Fans of great animation
- Kids (Just be sure to tell them that it's not okay to be like Mater)

Not For:
- Those expecting the usual Pixar quality entertainment
- Audiences who like character growth
- Those who don't like Owen Wilson
- Those who don't like Larry the Cable Guy
- Environmentalists
- Fans who realize this movie is just meant to sell toys
- People who don't like redundant jokes
- Anyone who wants something new

I'm positive that there will be those who will enjoy or even love Cars 2 for what it is, even knowing all the flaws that the film comes with. But as a fan of Pixar who saw the very first Toy Story in theaters when I was only 11 and every Pixar film since, I'm afraid I'm going to give this one a pass. I guess it's because I know why that this movie was made solely for the purpose to sell toys, but even that can have the potential to have more going for it, like the new My Little Pony :)love). But from what I've been hearing from a lot of reviwers, there is nothing more.

We went and saw it today, mostly as an excuse to get into some air conditioning as it has been extremely hot here the past couple of days.
We weren't expecting a fantastic time, just a moderately entertaining one. (We are not really fans of 'turn your brain off and watch the effects' movies so adjust your tastes accordingly)

It was okay. Some parts were pretty funny, others too convoluted. Mater does some extremely bumpkin things and just when he figures out how much of a bumpkin he is McQueen lets him off the hook. That part was not quite well thought out.

The kids in the theater were a bit distracted as the movie is too long with too much plot.

So yes, Cars 2 is now the worst Pixar movie.

Wow, I am surprised with some of the responses. Ratetouile was like combining a superb old tyme Disney story with modern animation, I loved it.
Cars had a great story and the ending hit a home run.
Bugs life had some great story arcs and twist and the animation is still outstanding in comparison to later films.

I cannot fault any of them myself, Pixar has always hit it out of the park as far as I am concerned. By far my favorite is The Incredibles.

Even after having just seen Cars 2 - I'm going with A Bug's Life. I just found all the characters irritating. And it went way too far with the "look, in real life, we do things like this... but in bug world, it's this!" stuff. It had an ok enough story but something about it just rubs me the wrong way.

Cars 2 was dissapointing as far as Pixar goes, but as far as "animated" movies in general go, it was as good as most (I found it much more watchable than Rio). I was thrown off guard by the amount of car deaths, though lol. It was a good kids action movie and lots of little boys are gonna have a blast with their toy cars after seeing it. Pixar is kind of known for appealing to kids AND adults, but C2 seemed to go just for the kids.

Cars 2.....Wow. Another heavy handed lecture on going green and how gasoline will destroy the world. If not from pollution, then from the greedy folks who run "big oil" and want nothing to do with anything but money. And since the words "big oil" are used in the film, are my kids now supposed to look twice when someone on TV says those exact words? Really, Pixar??? Am I so unintelligent that I can't see for myself the world around me? Am I part of the 70% of America that needs to be lectured and have decisions made for me about every aspect of my life? What a sad departure from the true genius that Cars 1 was about. And what a mixed basket this movie was. So, big oil and all of the millions of people who provide a life for themselves and their families with that industry are bad? Or was big oil actually good, because of how you presented the alternative fuel as dangerous? What's the next film about? A group of "aliens" on another planet that decide to provide universal healthcare for eachother because you guys need to preach about that? Take a lesson about actual storytelling from your own past and get over your attitude that you need to tell us all how to live our lives with less while you drive gas powered cars to work every day and sit in California traffic and burn electricity in your offices that was generated from the same fossil fuels you are bashing. Pretty sure not every person at Pixar drives a completely electric car. Sheesh.

And while I'm at it, F&$@ you, Michael Bay, for that pig tripe that was Transformers 3. As a former sailor, I cringed when you destroyed an aircraft carrier and showed drowning sailors in TF 2. There was no purpose to it. The scene from the beginning of the movie set the tone for that film. You have no interest in good storytelling, just wasting millions of dollars gratifying your personal vanity. When you destroyed the Space Shuttle Discovery in TF 3, you took another american icon and trashed it. I wish your mom would have spanked your stupid @$$ when you were a kid instead of spoiling you rotten. And how does this relate to Cars 2? You and Mater are 2 peas in a pod. You should have been the voice for that obnoxious Tow Truck, since you are already an blithering idiot man-child who has no regard for anyone but himself in this world.
Also, Ratatouille was great.

For the record, I LOVE Pixar

I haven't seen Cars 2, but I thought Wall-E really kinda sucked...it just didn't work for me

Actually there are a disproportionate amount of Prius' per capita here in the East Bay. One of our vendors is across the street from Pixar and he was telling us around the time Cars 1 came out, there was a whole truck load of Prius' delivered to the campus.

Cars 2 Budget... 200 Million
Domestic Box Office earnings... 165 Million
World wide?... 286 Million
Lowest grossing Pixar film?... A Bug's Life = 363 Million

So not only is Cars 2 going to be the first Pixar movie not to make it's budget back in the domestic market, it's going to be the lowest grossing Pixar film to date. Still, god only knows how much they made off the merchandise which arguably was the only point as to why this movie was even made in the first place.

If only they had a Princess to blame.

UP is a regurgitated version of themes in past Pixar films. It was just tiresome, boring and the chubby kid Russle was annoying as hell.I wanted the old man to push him off the porch while the house was floating. The only entertaining parts was with the talking dogs...especially the Dobermain.Other than that...it really didn't deserve an Oscar Nomination and I still to this day can't figure out how UP beat out Coraline for the Oscar? My guess is the Oscar/voting academy plays "favorites" and Disney/Pixar has allot of pulling power.

I havent seen Cars 2 yet, but my vote goes to Bugs Life. But really, ALL of Pixars movies are great works. Some are better than others but that is always opinion. It can't be said though that Pixar has ever had a flop...

While I certainly enjoyed it, Cars ranks lowest in my list of favorite Pixar films so far. I haven't watched the sequel and I don't mind whether I do or not. I am looking forward to Brave! I'm surprised they've waited this long to do a film with a strong female lead.
