Um, the people have not spoken. Let's wait a few weeks before we start saying that. (Or, you know, never.)
Not sure if you're being serious or not.
Anyways. Spill.com has an
audio review up and the film is just not clicking with them. At best, they give it a rental, but CoHost gave this movie "some ol'bullsh&%" which the other guys didn't seem to refute or argue against.
I think what we're dealing with here is a two hour "Larry the Cable Guy" movie who's humor seems to heavily rely on car related puns that disguises itself as with the story from "North by North West". MovieBob praised this film for abandoning the character drama aspects that the first film since Cars 2 just sticks to all the gimmicks of an action/spy/comedy movie and nothing more. So far, this is what I think.
For:
- Car lovers
- Larry the Cable Guy fans
- "Cars" Toy collectors
- Die hard Pixar fans
- "Turn you brain off" audiences
- Fans of great animation
- Kids (Just be sure to tell them that it's not okay to be like Mater)
Not For:
- Those expecting the usual Pixar quality entertainment
- Audiences who like character growth
- Those who don't like Owen Wilson
- Those who don't like Larry the Cable Guy
- Environmentalists
- Fans who realize this movie is just meant to sell toys
- People who don't like redundant jokes
- Anyone who wants something new
I'm positive that there will be those who will enjoy or even love Cars 2 for what it is, even knowing all the flaws that the film comes with. But as a fan of Pixar who saw the very first Toy Story in theaters when I was only 11 and every Pixar film since, I'm afraid I'm going to give this one a pass. I guess it's because I know why that this movie was made solely for the purpose to sell toys, but even that can have the potential to have more going for it, like the new My Little Pony

love). But from what I've been hearing from a lot of reviwers, there is nothing more.
