Immortan Joe costume from Mad Max, Fury Road

I have the artwork book at home - I'll look through and see if there are any useful pics of his outfit, if people want I can scan and upload tonight?

I didn't think so - hadn't had too much of a chance to look through it since I finally received it. Seemed very much to focus more on Furiosa/Max/war boys etc.

Yes, if I can get it together. My daughter is coming and wants to do Furiosa so I am trying to do her arm, also! Wish me luck!

Awesome! Can't wait to see it. I'm also helping a friend with Furiosa's mechanical arm too. So many things to get done. :eek

May the cosplay gods be on your side!

Downloaded a nut model from Thingiverse, modified it into a castle nut with Tinkercad and then printed it in the three sizes we need on my brand new FlashForge Creator Pro:

For those of you hesitating to get into 3D printing, here is one enthusiastic push forward!

BTW, they weigh almost nothing!

I don't know why I didn't think to just print the castle nuts. Woops.

Here are my cell phone bits with the right circuit board, at least. I gave up hunting for a better keyboard. I still think it is from a cordless phone and not a cell phone.

It is actually a cell phone - a Nokia 7250.

Interestingly you can find a bunch of people selling keypads on ebay.

I just started my Joe build as well. Thanks to all you guys (ahoudini, Hamsterstyle, and Ein) making the 3d models for printing, it's saved me so much time! I also made a castle nut model I can post tonight if anyone is interested.

Last night was mostly spent working with the transparent worbla. It's an entirely different monster compared to regular worbla. Very unforgiving. Still not sure how I'm going to tackle the chest plate. I read that some of you took a Roman gladiator chest plate and molded to either the inside or outside of it. I haven't bought one yet, but probably will get one from Amazon tonight. Any tips?

I used the inside, and suggest taping the edges of the worbla to the armor really tight. I also had a little overhang on the sides of the armor to make it a little wider. The Armor as it is, is about a medium I would say. Oh and this is the style I used... http://www.amazon.com/Medieval-Roma...pebp=1438122390915&perid=053RB3149603Y94C5FQV

Oh man. That looks perfect, but the $70 is probably a bit out of my price range. I'll probably check out some of the local costume stores and see if I can get some cheap plastic muscle armor. Thanks for the tips!

EDIT: I just remembered the martial arts school I train at has one of these that I can probably use. I know it would require molding on top of rather than inside of a mold, but it might actually work.

Unfortunately the armor is no longer listed under prime. When I ordered mine it was $58, plus I had some reward points... So all told I only paid $25.

That fitness body form I think will work great! It's actually a bit closer to Joe's armor... As the Roman armor I used has more of a "gut", while the sculpt of Joe's armor has more of a defined six pack.

Small update to my costume, I found a spot on match for the motorcycle boots at a local thrift store today.

I also completed the chains and ornaments this evening...

Going this route for the left biceps: Frankenpatch! The ford patch is trimmed down and glued onto the black star sheriff patch.

That's pretty clever! As far as I can tell, the full-size triceps patch reads "SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT" below the star. I burned my eyeballs out looking for an original, but no joy.

My attempt at a castle nut. It's currently just one size per file (20mm and 15mm), not sure what the exact sizes on the belt are supposed to be. So scale it in your slicing or modeling software as you feel proper. There are two uploads, one is taller and has a smaller hole than the other because I can't quite tell which is right.
