Immortan Joe costume from Mad Max, Fury Road

Say what? Builds finishing next week? Like maybe Wednesday night? Because that's definitely going to be me XD I did make a fair amount of progress though over the weekend.

Two more weeks of work and then I can get going and hopefully get through everything then. Working 13 hour days isn't conducive to doing what I want to do haha.

I did an updated version of the XL and 500 medals. Although the 500 with separate numbers is more accurate, I made a 'combined' one that sews into the leggings more easily. Plus Although I originally thought that the XL was separate pieces, I realized it's (probably) one solid piece and there is a model up there where it's combined.

Thanks for all the work you've been putting into this, you've saved me a lot of time modelling it all myself. At this point in the game though, I'm going to have to use what I have. I can probably still glue the XL together if I want to.

I might have missed it in the discussion, but what are you guys using to actually put the orange weathering lines onto the armor? I'm thinking an airbrush might do the job, or brushing some burnt umber ink, but I am trying to figure out what would give me the best degree of control.

I airbrushed acrylic paint and then sealed it with gloss lacquer to keep it from rubbing off the slick plastic so easily.

Honestly I used my Warhammer paints watered down a bit, I think I'm going to go over it again pretty sure I can get a better look

I tested acrylic paint this morning and it seemed to work pretty well. I painted on a little bit and used a paper towel to smudge it around. I like ahoudini's idea of sealing it as well.

I can confirm the actual XL badges I have are one solid piece.

Hey guys, been following this thread for a while as I work on a gift costume of Immortan Joe for my husband for Dragon*Con. Here's some of my stuff so far.

There's a lot of little screen-to-cosplay inaccuracies but between a job and wrangling a 1-year-old, I had to make do and cut some corners. I still see some stuff I want to go back and revisit before con (namely the patches, I didn't realize that was a TEXAS patch on the pauldron, holy ****). This thread has been a HUGE help in getting some accuracy down in the look, though. So thank you guys a ton!

Welcome! You truly are a "SuperMom!!
What a great job you have done! He will be stunned!
