You know you're working on a pyro model when Joe Viskocil walks in and starts looking at your work.......

I think this was a pyro model too -

Gene

OOO! Who's is that? I like the red marks on the bottom!

So was "blue 4" ever filmed with the yellow canopy? My goal has always been to do all the known X's in 1/72 as accurate as possible. Been thinking of startining one this weekend using the forbidden photo's.

It's a testament to Gene's preternaturally powerful geek prowess that he knows how to spell "Viskocil." Not even Cinefantastique got that right.

He's the pyro expert that blows stuff up.

My first peak at Star Wars came from Joe. He showed up at a small convention in Anaheim with a page of slides from the effects shoots. I saw R2 on the back of the Xwing, the trench canons, the Falcon parked in the Death Star, and about ten others.

That was cool.

He's the dude who blows up stuff (with a permit, of course).

Gene

PS - and I can't even comment on Carson's use of the word "preternaturally" since I don't even know what it means........

Ok, it's a guys' Last name. First I've heard it. Steve Gawly, Joe Johnston, John Dykstra, Lorne perterson Those are old hat.

Before this thread gets too deep into another pyro v. hero analysis, let me repost some questions:

I thing Jay placed Red 2 three years ago. Elsewhere its been mentioned that it is not in the archives at the moment (is this true?)... And that it is not known to be on tour any more.

So...

What tours was Red 2 on?
What was its latest tour?
Where is it now...?

We need an employee to get the permissions and do the research.
Frustrating because how hard could it be to do if someone just was given the task? And it all could go into SW Insider and help sell a lot of magazines and model kits.

Seems getting the inner details of Fort Knox may be easier.

This is my third favorite thread, Number 2 being the other x-wing differences thread(linked above from last summer) and the Finemolds Millennium falcon thread by Dana jan(would LOVE an update Dana!)

Miniaturizer Ray, in everything I've read about John Knoll and all the times I've heard him lecture/speak in person, it is evident that he is somebody who recognizes the historical value of the assets he comes across.

Yeah, same here. There's no way he would've done something as radical as that. He probably respects FX history more than anyone here. I heard that when Ralph McQuarrie made a visit to ILM, he was seen running through the building to meet him. Almost pushing people out of the way. :)

I would have too. Is there anyone here who wouldn't tample some kids in order to get the oportunity to be in the presence of Mr McQuarrie?
