Here's chapter 2 enjoy.
~chapter 2 - Grief~
The facility went on lockdown and all the main exsits were sealed. The beast's looked about as the alarms sounded, trapped like mice in a maze. I was carefully pulled to my feet, my knees shaking. Exahustion was creaping up on me, twinned with pain I could bearly keep my eyes open. Another roar shook the room, she was near. There clicks and growls confused me, I didn't know what they were or any names.
"Who are you?" My voice was that of a dying child, weak, frightened and pathetic. The green one turned me to face him and tilted his head, his hand raised and I tensed waiting for a strike but instead a hissing sound filled the space between us. I opened my eyes to see him removing the mask the face under it was a strange surprise. The rubbery strands of hair framed his head to where the mask ended, his eyes were a gentle shade of green with blue rings around the outside, the skin on his face was such a light green it was almost white. Four mandibles framed a small mouth like structure filled with sharp teeth. He pressed a hand to his chest and growled one word.
"Rhi'ko" I could only assume it was his name, he gestured behind me to the tall cream and brown one who too had taken his mask off, they all had. They were all pretty much the same. The two that had left earlier I was convinced were twins. They were many shades of orange and red, black marking on their crown, identicle.
"Tsuna" The tall one nodded.
"Det'kia, Det'kan" Yep they had to be twins, the both gave a brief nod before I realised I had not told my name. But I didn't know my real name, the name my mother gave me. What did she look like again? What happened to her? Father said she didn't love me, what did I do for her to hate me? My head began to hurt so I just told them the name the facility had given me. I pressed my hand to my chest the same as Rhi'ko and told them.
"X'amd" A nod from them all told me they understood but Rhi'ko decided to say it, or try.
"X'amned" I gave a soft laugh and repeated my name, to which he nodded. I didn't think they would be able to say it, not with mouths like that.
Suddenly the door to the room dented, several hisses coming from the other side. I was pulled behind Tsuna, swiftly they put their masks back on and posed for attack. The hits kept coming and the door buckled viciously leaving a gap at the bottom. One of the creatures slid into the room, I had seen them so many times I was not truly effected by there discusting visage. I growled at them and roars were exchanged but this one felt farmiliar she felt comforting to me.
"Stop it." An eyeless face stared straight at me as I pushed past Tsuna. I slowly approached my hand offered out as a sign of kindness. It lowered its body, no longer ready to strike. The noise at the other side of the door had stopped, they were watching. Softly I placed my hand on the front of its head. It was slimey and wet, moving its head so I was touching its teeth it gave a strange pur and slowly opened its mouth. I ran my fingers over its deadly teeth, the four humanoids behind me clicking in confusion.
"We need to go, its dangerous little one." It hissed in some form of agreement and ran, the others following suit. I turned and the four beasts regarded me with an element of ditrust.
"Do you honestly think that I have only hand one of those things in me? I've had eight. The smell, they recognise me as their host, their mother." My voice sadened at the end of the sentence and they settled.
"Can we please leave?" I looked at them hopefully, my eyes begging. This place was my hell and I wanted out. Gently my hand was tugged by Det'kia and I was urged out of the room through the gap at the bottom of the door. Once in the corridore they gathered around me like a group of wolves protecting a wounded cub. We walked throught the facility at a slow pace, Tsuna looking at a computer on his wrist constantly. We approched a lage set of double doors that hissed open once we were close enough. Computers and buttons lined the walls, we had reached the control room. The scattered about plugging their wrist computers into the main controls, the door behind me closed and locked. They were trying to open the main exsits. Minutes slipped past before my own voice hit my ears.
"Daddy please stop it." I turned to see that Rhi'ko had openind up all the files on me and seemed to be transfering evberything to his wrist computer, they gathered round to see what exactly I was begging my father to stop doing. I pressed my back against the wall and slid down it, my hands pressed against my ear, and eternity seemed to pass before I felt a gentle clawed hand running through my hair. Looking up into the eyes of my green skinned friend I noticed he looked very disturbed, they all did. Purring he moved closer and pulled me against him. looking over his shoulder I noticed the computer screen was destoryed, they had not enjoyed the show.
"I'm okay." Pulling back he regarded me before he stood and pulled me to my feet, rubbing the tears from my face I smiled weakly. A bark came from behind, it seamed as though Det'kan had opening an exit and at the same time had started the self destuct. the door hissed open and Rhi'ko grabbed my hand. My body ran even though it felt like I would fall to pieces I ran. Darting down one corridor to the next I could hear the screams of the scientist as the creatures tore them to shreds, smiling inwardly I ran faster.
The exit was in sight and our pace increaced, esacping the facility in to the snow. Running a further five hundred yards we stopped my body screaming in pain. Lookin g back I culd see the facility, my prison. Several explosions set off around the hell hole causing me to jump in fright. the building sank into the icy water dissapearing forever. Looking up I saw the sun for the first time in thirteen years, its was so beautiful, so pure, but something tugged at my scences telling me something was very wrong. Looking back at the opening in the ice I told my friends one thing.
"RUN!" Turning, I ran their footsteps following me before the sound of water splashing and a powerful roar. The queen scrambled out the freezing water and persued us all. Catching us up quickly she attacked swining her tail knocking us all down. She payed little attention to me and went straight for the kill on Tsuna, but a shuriken to the throat forced her attention away giving them time to reasemble. They all attacked.
The screaming and roaring wouldn't end. I closed my eyes and dug my nails into my hands. this wasn't freedom. I had to pick a side but one was my child and the other my saviors. My mind swam, my head pounding, my heart in my throat. I mad my decision.
"ENOUGH!"
The queens head spun around at my scream, her eyeless face gazed upon me. Slowly, she approched me, so gently. Her threataning demenor gone in an instant, a small whine coming from her torn throat.
"Its okay darling" my voice was gentle, slow. I raised my hand up and she pressed her slimey muzzle to it. Tears slithered down my face unchecked, it wasn't fair. This creature was all I had, she was my child in essence and now I had done something unforgivable. I had led her straight into a trap, which she would be destoyed in.
"I love you." The spear drove straight through her head, her brain destoyed but she remained alive, bearly. She wined looking at me without eyes, sadened by my betrayl. Falling to my knees I held her muzzle, crying.
"Please forgive me, I'm so sorry." Her acidic blood dripped down my arm burning in a twisted path, but I didn't feel it. Her hand swept the blood off, my pinky dangling by a thread of flesh. Kissing her teeth and apologising one last time I grabbed the spear and twisted it.
She went still.
Slumping to my knees, exhaustion in so many forms taking over me I curled up in the snow, my eyes drifting shut I saw the feet of my saviours running to me before slipping into a cold black sleep with the voice of a woman calling to me with one message.
"Wake up."
