Hellboy Rasputin Mecha Glove project?

How do you weather the fingertips? I'm thinking maybe wood glue would leave that crackled-resin-like texture---or maybe it's rubber cement with dust?

Anybody have some clear pics / measurements for the mummified frogs?

I'm sculpting the frog(s) this weekend. That's where I'm starting for my Mecha-Glove.

Hey JOATRASH FX

Haven't seen any updates here in awhile. Just wanted to check in and see how your build is going.

I saw that you have an interest thread for parts.

So, how goes your mecha-glove build? I'm looking forward to seeing your progress.

Hope your well.

Heya (likewise and thanks)!

Yeah, I've gotten sidetracked a bit with the Guardians stuff I've been doing. I do occasionally do the small bit of work on it but I'm saving the bulk of it for when I can set aside a lot of time. Maybe some time next year and I can do my Johann Kraus v2.0 as well. (A Rasputin would be great for Halloween next year, haha.) The first big hurdle I have is cutting out parts of the aluminum tube. Most likely I'll have to get a shop to help me with that since I don't have heavy-duty cutting tools. There's no way I'll be able to reach Adam's level of accuracy though.

I do still offer some parts of the glove, yes.

I hear ya. I've made lots of progress on my "cosplay" version of the glove. Not accurate at all compared to asavage version of the glove. But I am thankful for his help with reference and PMs to help me out. It's very motivational to have a maker like Adam post on your build thread and be so supportive!

While I am very happy with my creative version of the glove, I am excited to tackle an accurate version. It may not be as awesome as Adam's in the end but I think with some patience I can make a very nice version that is much more accurate than my current build.

Have you seen my thread? What do YOU think?

And thanks again for starting your thread. I found lots of great reference and help here. Much appreciated good sir. I printed lots of pics and put them in a binder for reference while sitting at my shop table.

Oh and by the way what is the Guardians projects you are working on? If it's anything as awesome as Vera, I'm excited to know. Share a build thread link would ya? Look, you make awesome stuff all the time so I'm curious.

And looks like I'll be doing a run on some mecha-glove parts later this year. My friend inkblot and I have been working hard on parts that we can create a kit from.

Keep up the awesome,

Cheers,
Joshua

@JOATRASH FX parts are more accurate than mine. But I can send you info on the parts that I'll be making available too. Let me know via PM, and I can give you the details. Again, chat with joatrash fx first. His work is awesome.

@JOATRASH FX not trying to step on your toes. Your work is awesome!

JOATRASH FX gave me some great feedback on my "scorpion box"

His is better than mine at this point ahoudini his "scorpion box" has the proper knurling on the bottom edge that mine does not. Mine is not bad, but his is much more "screen accurate" I kick myself for not having the proper knurling.

Food for thought when buying parts. His are, so far, much more accurate than mine. I can admit that.

Buy the parts that suit you the best. Likely his, I hope you do...I'm still learning.

P.S. I can't wait to meet you at the RPF meetup at DragonCon in like 8 days. OMG 8 days bro!!!! Crazy how time flies!

Hi guys,
In light of the parts discussion, just a heads up that I am working on putting together a few kits of the Millenbaugh Motivator I did for Adam's hand. My intention is to have it fully functional but the crankshaft has been an ongoing problem. I should have the final version 3D printed in metal soon. Knowing that most people (including myself) will never build a full hand, I have a good idea of how to display it solo. Work in progress:

And running with metal crankshaft: https://youtu.be/ydSJt0Za6aw?t=1m55s

It's going to be a few months until ready, but is it kosher to announce it here when these go up in the Project Runs?

Sean, been trying to contact you via YouTube...is here better? Hope so as I’m definitely interested in any parts you may still have. I’m looking pretty good on cigar case ends though!

I don't currently have any kits - have been working on it on and off trying to solve the crankshaft issue. My goal was to offer something that actually runs the problem is the crankshaft is so tiny, delicate and hard to make that the originals never lasted long. I have been working on a metal one, but it's not there yet. I may put together some kits for those that just want something that looks good and don't care if it runs. No timeline on that. You can get a hold of me via my website, Twitter, etc

I could totally help you out in terms of the crankshaft. Have you tried Bronze?
I could mold up one of your crankshafts, produce a wax from that and cast it up in a white bronze to match the patina of your all white metal version.
The wax could be altered in just about any way you want prior to casting in Bronze. Bronze is really tough stuff especially in small parts.
Hell, I'll do it for free if you can help me out with parts?

I can cast up as many as you need but you sounded like you were trying to find something that works. I don't know how many you are planning to make or what the demand might be but I could certainly get you out a few to play with, by way of moving forward.

I'd like to put together a working one though I have NO intention of running it anywhere near to the speed Adam ran it at in the video with you.
I just sourced two Kaydon Bearings which has me feeling a bit better about the whole thing.

Let me know if we can work something out as I'm trying to source parts and this looks to be the one brick wall I'm butting my head against.
