wonderful work!! and thanks for the photos
if i remember correctly from the tested videos the glove has working light and servos that open and clos the main hatch on the glove as well as the millinbal motivatorBeen following this on Tested and seen the videos on YouTube, amazing amount of work and detail! The base just puts it over the top, does it have any other function (light up or dials move)?

Hi all, I'm a bit of a lurker around here, post now and again, wanted to chime in as this may be of interest. I won Adam's Inventern competition last October, it was thru Tested.com where they have been posting all the Hellboy Mecha-Hand stuff. The winner of the Inventern got to help Adam on a project and he asked me to build the Millenbaugh Motivator for his replicas. I'm a 3D modeler/printer so did most of it digitally combined with real hardware. I was really honored to work on this for Adam and I think it turned out pretty well. We are documenting it on Tested, so for those who didn't know about it already here's the links:
Adam first discusses the Hand - 2012
Adam showing the almost final Hand
Adam showing his Hand drawings
Adam & I discussing the 3D printed motivator
I assemble a motivator on camera - this is a subscriber-only video
Over the next few weeks I am writing walkthrus of building the motivator, the first two are up:
Part 1
Part 2
I'm still working out a few kinks with the motivator but I discussed it with Adam and may offer up some kits once I do. I will never build a complete Mecha-Hand so I have an idea for displaying just the motivator which should be cool. I'll be finishing this up over the next few months and will keep everyone posted.
This is the kind of stuff I have wanted to do since I was a kid and it's only been over the last few years that I've really done it. Still have a lot to learn and The RPF has been a huge inspiration and driving force. Thanks!
Sean

Hey there Sean! Great work and well met! Glad to hear I'm not the only one that sometimes defies sanity and eyeballs things while modeling. I'm Joe, starter of the thread and the guy that did the 3d models for a few other pieces like the vinegaroon cage and things. My build is still waiting as it was when I got back from Adam's shop (oh boy was I nervous when I went through airport security with that stuff...).
Here are the finished hands themselves
Finally, I designed and built a stand that I'm really happy with, here's the final pic, hand weathered on stand (I threw some film smoke into my shop for dramatic effect!

There will be more about this project on tested soon! I'm still not completely done. Done with the hands, not with the project...
Adam out.
Lovely work. I had seen a few bits of this build on TESTED and loved it. As I checked out the photos on this post I got a kick out of a habit that I have when scoping out build shots: I first look at the main subject, but my eye is immediately drawn to everything in the background. I love seeing what others have deemed worthy of pinning up on their shop's walls. It's always cool to see old projects and mottoes, posters and useless bits of crap that remind the workers there of some fun thrash.Time to bring this thread back from the dead because I've finished my Mecha-Hands. IN fact I've made two. One went to Guillermo Del Toro. One I'm keeping. Here is a "making of" gallery (many shots were posted year years ago!)
