I guess its dutch.

Thanks for the comments everyone :) It's so fun to make stuff and then share it on here. The book isn't that hard to put together, but the foil is the biggest headache. I'm going to experiment with heat transfer foil for another one to test it out. If it works it will be a lot easier to put together and I'll write up some tips I learned for anyone interested so they can recreate it too.

Nice work on the form bfd!

Hi Everyone,
I have a favor to ask. I want to make a Weasley Firework to add to the Weasley box that I am making. I have several pics which I will attach here but I am looking for a better picture of a firework that is more in keeping with Weasely Wizard Wheezes. I don't remember some of these fireworks mentioned in the books or movie. I think I remember Dr. Filibuster but I think that was a Zonko product. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks woozelmom. The HP universe is full of outrageous names so just about anything goes.

For your fireworks (which look great) how about Wildfire Whiz bangs as shown in the attached...

bfd

Hi bfd,
Thanks so much for the Wildfire Whiz Bangs. I may be able to do something with that :)
The pictures that I had attached were just pictures I had found around the web. I haven't made any of them yet. I only want to make one. It will be used to store my pencils. I will have probably the top open and the pencils will be housed inside. This is the last thing I need to make for the inside with the exception of a Maurader's Map crochet hook roll. I had seen one made on Craftster and loved it :)
I have a few things to finish on the box itself and then I will post pictures. I'm not sure if I can post them here or does it need to be posted elsewhere and a link posted here. Maybe I should ask one of the moderators that question. :confused

Thank you so much Hinky! It's Dutch! :D It says: Thanks for voting! Click here for all comtests of 7days.nl! :) Thanks again!!

I've got a question about the Heat Foil Transfer technique....do you print the parts that aren't to be foiled first and then laser print the parts you want in foil over that or do you laser print the black (to be foiled) parts first, set the foil on, and then reprint the rest of the image through the printer? I want to try this on another potions book, but I'm not sure how accurately things will line up.

As I understand it from reading about the foil transfer ( I haven't actually tried it) you print the parts that you want the foil to be on first, because when you apply the foil, the ink will "soak up" it up (you have to put the foil sheet over what you printed and apply heat with for example an iron) and then you print the rest of the design over it.

The major problem I see with this is that anything you print on after applying foil will have to have "gaps" where the foil is, or it will be printed on top of the foil, which wouldn't give a very good result I think. So as you say, it will probably be a bit difficult to line things up...

Hope that explains it?

@Starairi and Lemonlemonuk Awesome , thanks for the explanations I think that will help a lot!!

@bfd, hinky, or anyone who knows photoshop really well, I spent about two hours with online tutorials and I have a couple of questions about the pen tool.
1. How do I delete a direction handle?
2. When I finish my path, when it is a complete shape, I went to the "Paths" tab next to "Layers" selected my path (which was automatically named "Work Path") and pressed the third button from the left to make my path a selection. When I do this the whole picture is selected EXCEPT whats inside my path. How do I make it select inside the path? Or, how can I invert the selection?
Just fyi this is CS 4 and I'm on a mac running snow leopard.

Hi luke

I'm not really a Photoshop Mavin...i know how to use a few things through repetition but there is a lot i don't have a clue how to use.

So...I don't know how to delete a direction handle for the pen tool and all I can suggest to select what is inside the path is to make sure you are on that layer then go to the selection menu and pick either the Rectangular Marquee tool or the Lasso tool and enclose the path with either one. That should select the items in/on the path for editing.

Hope that helped.

bfd

@Luke - I dont have a Mac in front of me so I'm going of memory on this. To delete direction handles, what you do is hold down Apple and click on the point. This should remove one of the direction handles. Holding down.. control (?) allows you to delete both of them, but if you do that you get straight points. You pretty much need at least one direction toggle if your path has any form of a curve

For the second part, you just need to select the right settings BEFORE making a path. I attached a photo with the right settings. Everything on there is good to follow but the important part is that last option.

@Kid2000 - Not sure if I missed something, who are you talking to?

@hinky, thank you very much, but you seem to have forgotten the photo :lol
Hope your travels are going well!
@bfd.... Valiant effort! Haha, but in all seriousness, thanks for your help.
