Hey Lee,
Long time man!! Have been kept from here for a while and I see that I have missed so damn much!!! Dude, the Grizzly turned out so amazing!!! I can't stop looking at all the details you have on here!!!! Great stuff man!!!
Cheers folks.....and welcome back Carlos.I havent been around too much myself lately mate....having a few issues to deal with so just havent had time.
Well.....I decided that this guy needed a resin display bust as he just didn't look right stuck on a pole.
I started this about a week ago and didn't take too many progress shots i'm afrais as I have things on my mind and was tending to just get carried away forgetting to take pics.
Here are the ones I remembered to take tho lol.
I started off making an armature from a hanging half torso that I had laying around, cut it at the waiste, fixed it to a chair seat and filled the back with expanding foam. At first, I covered the exposed foam with duct tape.....but this proved to still be too spongy to work with so I removed the tape and painted on a few layers of resin instead.....sorry....didn't get any pics of the resin.....but you could use your imagination lol.
As you can see i'm still roughing out the shapes, still along way to go yet.....and I promose to try and remember to take more progress pics lol
Thanks again for looking
omg thats a killer sculpt. I wish i took more time to go into that much detail with my pred sculpt. I do have some crit, i dont know if its just me but were the neck meets the back looks a bit weird to me. It could be just you still blocking out the form but the best way i can explain it is his neck seems like its starting too far forward and his back muscles are buldging out a bit. I cant wait to see what you do with it. great job dude.
Well i haven't checked on this for a while, but this is awesome!!
From the sculpt tot he casting, brilliant work.
Truly is a nice piece, a fine "Grizzly" Elder
Cheers folks....@ the Brave...I know what you mean man, in a way though, it was the look I was going for as I wanted him to have a bit of a stoop seeing as he is old........he is quite a tall pred and he lives in a house with a low ceiling lol........also....as I had already made the head in resin....I was pretty much governed by that lol.....so I had no choice anyways
Quick update, I started to add some lumps and bumps and horns here and there.....havent done any texturing or blending yet as I want to keep the smells down in the house if I can, so I am trying to leave all my blending till I can do the bulk of it in one session outside on a nice day.
I have also started to do something with the base.
Heres pics
The talent in making this beast is simple ah inspiring! That is so damn cool! The spikes on the shoulders just make him even more vicisous then he looked before. I am super excited in seeing this bad boy complete.
Cheers again folks
Just a small update ......done a little defining on the chest and started to add a little texturing.....this is my favorite part.
Pics
I have a couple of spare hours right now, so I am going to get stack in with some more texturing so I should have another update a little later on.
Thanks again
Cheers Phil
Got quite a bit more of the texturing done, still a bit more blending to be done yet though.
Pics
and here's a couple of shots with the head, If anyone is thinking that it looks too short, it's because it's not a full torso down the the waist, it only comes down to about the bottom of his ribcage.
