Here I finally put to text the many halted attempts at a Jason Mamoa as Aquaman Impersonation Cosplay Costume.

As I am certainly not the muscular equivalent, there will be costume enhancements and possibly my first attempt at a muscle suit. That will all play out as I get closer to finished with the assembly.

But first we lay the groundwork with my intended poses and inspiration pictures.

Elements for a completed build:

1) Skin suit with possible muscle enhancements

2) Gloves

3) Boots (highest likely abandoned piece)

4) Trident

5) Waterfall

6) Hair

7) Brows

8) Beard and mustache

9) Contacts for the golden eyes

My current research shows likeness levels in the face are highest at a side view so my poses will likely be sideviews.

I am working on printing the entire trident on my 9 inch bed 3d printer. I will detail the process once I have it assembled.

I have purchased a printed skin suit. A "good at ten feet" version that is very sadly not metallic.

I am currently looking for the printable gauntlet parts. My hair is long enough but is in need of perming and shaping. The beard will likely be faux as I grow a terrible beard.

I also have purchased the contacts. I am working on my list of purchases and sources and will post within the week.

The gloves are what looks to be chef's cutsafe aluminum gloves with the scales sewn on. I have not yet found a printable set of scales. Please provide any sources for any of the above items that you may already have.

I don't know how you do it mano_Oo_O Looking at that costume and the difficulties associated with it, I'm already seating on my floor, head bent and arms limp:(

The printer gifted to me was the last real holdup for this project. I could not get a non metal version and those cannot go to conventions. I know that sounds dumb because I can't say I am free enough (comfort/embarrassed) with a skin tight suit on (even if I totally rocked it) so why worry about the metal at all? First is price. Anything truly spendy triggers my willingness to make it. Now that I have the printer it just launches me forward on this project because I can CROP THOSE PICS BRO!!! Hahaha.... yep, with the shiny trident in hand, I can crop out the sketchy bits and get the focus on the hair, beard and trident. Example: here is an intended crop similar to what I intend to complete:

There are these which are similar in design and can be used in situ or separately..

EDIT : I seem to be unable to upload photos
But if you search Dragon Scales there are STL options out there.

Excellent lead, thank you. And yes the upload is still experiencing the slow stalls that started last week. I keep getting the "oops" on reload screens.

O and K..... just so we are very clear on me not going into the deep dark hole of direct replication, I wanted to post this link from another rpf'er DartFeld (obviously a closed account), The Ring Lord for these beautiful scales and armor rings.

I will NOT be making a full scales equivalent of the shirt, however tempting.

You know you want to..

And since our fellow rpf'er has a closed account, I am also borrowing his link to this wonderful leather company:

Not at all for this build but there it was, sitting in the same post and when I looked it up..... they are practically my neighbors! One hour's drive to this fantasy leather designer?!? Talk about your AWESOME chance rpf find. Because, btw, you can't search for all these wonderful old rpf posts through the normal filters because those accounts don't exist as "accounts" but are now only considered "posts" so are easier to find via a web search versus a forum search.

Just got off the phone with Leather Mystics. They are still in business (that link was 10 years old) but have a different selection due to downsizing like the rest of the businesses we all know. They still offer what we see on the webpage but no longer the large custom group orders. They previously did large sets of coordinated wedding and group production items like full village re-enactment sets. They specialize in bodices with extended dress tails but still have full access to their previous glove designs through a production partner. They prefer email ordering as they are semi retired and are more comfortable with non rush orders. Looks like they have some pretty stellar leather hooded men's ware.
