Grizzly Elder Bust Sculpt (Finished Pics Page 7)

wow.....thanks a lot peeps......I think it's everyones plan to improve with each peice they do.....it's how we progress and i'm glad that you feel that i'm improving :D
I am just as critical of my own work as the next man......so I can always see things that I would like to do differently next time......I say next time as there are so many different possibilities that I would be forever changing things and still not be happy with it.....so there has to eventually come a point where you have to tell yourself...."it's done"........however......this is not done yet lol.
I was out all day yesterday so didn't get a chance t work on it......but I will be defining the details on the neck ring today and maybe taking another closse look at the details on the crown.

@ Gene.....Grizzly is probably a good name for him as he does look a bit grizzly lol.......and it's an improvement on the name I had planned.........Trevor

Thanks once again to all

Very handsome!!

Simply amazing you have taken your work to
Another level!!

From perfection to god like!

Lol.....cheers Hulk......God like?.....hardly.....I like t think that it's a little better than my previous.....but thats as far as it goes man....still LOTS of room for improvement......but thanks anyways.

Another quick update...
Cheek horns replaced and done a little more smothing to the crown and neck ring......gotta wait for the clay to dry out a little now so I can add the finner detail to the neck ring beads.....and i've still got to do the detailing and blending to the cheek horns and add quill holes yet..

Like I've said it before.... pure awesomeness!!! Love everything about it!!! Don't know where you get all these great ideas from, but keep em coming!!

On a side note, I did start my thread if you would like to teach me the ways master yoda.. lol

The best thing to do would be to look for the information you want by usingf the search function as this is a question that has been answered many times.
Generally, other members threads are not the place for questions unless it relates to the thread topic.
To answer your question tho....it would totally depend on how big you want your mask to be and how big your armature is to begin with.
If you are getting oil based clay, I would get around 40lbs if your armature is quite small.
Best of luck

@Carlos......cool....I will check it out

quick update before I start the neck ring details.
I put in the quill holes, these have been made the correct size to fit "Froggy's" quills in.
I have also done a little more detailing to the skin overall......I am hoping to get the rest of it finished off today so I can seal it tonight and then leave it until friday before moulding takes place.

NICE! this guys a beast, I reckon he could stand at like 8 foot and give berserker a flying headbutt that'd knock him on his ass!

He's the conan of predators...in my head... just now.

Holy mother of details!!! Great eye man, you've made it so damn realistic!! I love it!! I hope to some day have that kind of skills.. So, what are you calling it?
Trevor, Grisly, or what ? lol

Cheers everyone......@ Jason..your pretty much on the right track of what my influences were....for this peice I took reference from p1/concept art for p2/p2 elder/narin scull hunter and theres a little amount of wolf in there too....and a little of my own....he's like a conglomerate of different preds lol.

@ Carlos.....I quite like Genes suggestion "Grizzly".....will probably go with that unless anyone has any better suggestions?

I'll update tommorrow as I'm just giving it the once over in prep for sealing, I'm going to mould the lower mandibles in the morning....i'll take pics as I go....i'm ging to document the moulding process as I think alot of the moulding tutorials have disapeared into the vaults

Cheers again

Jeebus that's just wild. I keep looking back at the pics to soak in more detail...and there's tons of it! The crown detail, skin texture, tiny spikes and the direction they go makes it flow nicely...I just can't say enough nice things about this! I especially like how you blended all the Pred heads into one amalgamation of nastiness! **** yea!!!!

THIS RIGHT HERE is what keeps me coming back to the Lair and makes me want to pick up some clay right now and go to town! Your work has improved ten fold and in my opinion just keeps getting better. Kudos to you...this is simply fanfreakingtastic!!

Great work man! I really like all the details and the crown is really wild looking! I can't wait to see one painted.

I think after some review, I much prefer the name Trevor. He looks like a Trevor! haha

Glad you like the Grizzly name, really does kinda fit.

Great job with all the updates, keeping us on the edge of our seats over here!

Thanks again everyone.....glad you like it
@ Gene......should I start a poll?.....trevor/Grizzly.....lol....I quite like the name Grizzly (good call) so I'll probably stick with that...cheers.

@Bryan........I'm topping it right now.......with silicone lol

The moulding process has now begun....and I hate this part.....this will be my first silicone pred head mould.
I should have done a cavity pour mould really but the amount of silicone it would consume would cost far too much and this is the time of year that I'm usually skint lol......so I'm just going to have to brush it on .....it's going to take a while as i'm just mixing up small quantities at a time as I only have 6 kg of silicone and I want it to be on the sculpt and not drizzled all over my workbench lol

well....here's pics

First off I just roughed out a containment barrier around the bottom
DSCF2008.jpg

Then I covered a beanbag with an old sweatshirt and carefully laid him back so I could fill the eye sockets and outh area

the money shot!
DSCF2010.jpg

then basicaly periodicaly keep brushing on the silicone until a nice thickness is acheived

It took me most of yesterday to get this far lol......so at this rate it will take me a few days to get it thick enough.

.......I also forgt to sprey the peice with mould release prior to starting....so I am hoping I will still be able to peel the mould off without ruining the sculpt as I want to take a fibreglass mould afterwards
