Grizzly Elder Bust Sculpt (Finished Pics Page 7)

Thanks for the reply! I would have thought you had a magical tool, to do so much detailing so fast... I'll keep an eye out for the rubber tools, might be a good idea for myself... lol
Looks really awesome overall! Frigging love it!

(just got my clay today! We'll see how it turns out... I definitely can't expect to get what you just made, but I can probably look forward to it in the future! haha
Thanks for the inspiration to get out there and try it out myself!)

Cheers,
Carlos

Edit: Quick question if you don't mind.. For the bottom mandibles (or jaws not sure what to call it in this case..), do you use something to support the clay as you build it up and out? Or just roll it, let it harden a bit then mount it to the head? Cause it looks tricky to do...

P2 with the neckring looks pretty cool, you gonna leave it on for the final?

Cheers Jason.....i'll only be leaving it in for the resin copys.....after I have taken a silicone mould, I will then take a fibreglass mould of the neck ring only, then reculpt the neck without a neck ring before taking the fibreglass mould of the rest of the head....that way I can have the neck ring built into the resin version and still have the same neck ring for my silicone one, but seperate from the mask so it can be worn with different neck rings.

@ Fonzy
Good news that you got your clay...but do yourself a favour man.....dont start out with low expectations.....as it will hinder your ability.....just take your time and persivere to get the look you want.

As an update.....I got fed up looking at the crown.....and yu guys are all too polite to tell me how **** it looked lol.....so I ripped it up and going for a different look.......just roughed out at the mo but you'll be able to see where i'm heading with it...

I deliberately left my sculpting tools in the bottom of the picture for yu Carlos
Cheers

EDIT (LOL)...and Carlos.....for the mandibles.....this particular head has a mechanism underneath the clay making it easier for me to do them but usually I would just roll some clay into sausage shapes and then just stick them in place , then build them up frm there.
Hope this helps....and good luck

lol, thanks for the pic, and for the info. I wasn't sure how to go about it, now i have a good idea of how it's done! Looking frigging awesome by the way!!

Awesome changes man that thing is looking great, what mechanism did you use under the clay for the to hold the mandibles in place or did you just use rolled clay?

So I started my own sculpt today, and for my first time ever sculpt I gotta tell you..... I'm so freaking happy with it so far!! haha I'll start a thread once i get a little more done on it.. cause I don't think I'll be working as fast as you do.. hahaha I would love to get your opinions and help on details and what not, once I get it up and running.
It'd be much appreciated!
Thanks for the inspiration man, and for the push to go and try it myself.

cheers,
Carlos

it would look much better sitting in my room.................send it to me righ away.....LOL,,,,,,,fantastic sculp seriously, idk how you guys put that detail into something, youre amazing sculptors

Cheers guys......good to hear you've already had a go Carlos.....i'm looking forward to seeing what you've done so far.
Dont worry about speed and all that.....we all start somewhere and when I first started, it took me well over a month to do a head.
I will offer any help I can but you have to remember that I am still learning myself, so my advise might not nessasarily be the best advise.
I have a few erronds to run today but as soon as I get a chance I will update with pics, I've ordered my moulding materials which should also turn up today....I am hoping to get this finished by midweek so I can mould it and get it all cleared away.........the missus wants to use the dinning room table for Xmas!!.....what a ******* cheek!

Thanks, I'll appreciate any help.. lol i may very well need it.. I'll get my thread started in the next day or two.. I already changed quite a bit, from the original look I had going.. but I guess that's normal.. lol

can't wait to see your updates!
