Graflex 2.0 Sabers - Show your work / Talk Electronics

I get lost in forums so easily... but this video channel is great! Thanks!

Progress report:
Grips added to lower body
Clamp modified in order to spin lever freely
Button painted to be less shiny
LED tested and wired

Tomorrow, I'll add the resistors, place the LED to the heatsink, and start drilling into the grenade body. Shoot2Thrill's videos are helping immensely. And SoCal Saber's tutorial for using TCSS chassis components instead of Darth Ryo's 3D printed chassis are also helping me out as well. I decided to go that route since I have a 2015 Graflex 2.0.

Was able to figure out the placement for chassis pieces, spacers, and nuts to not only fill the lower cell of the Graflex 2.0, but I'm able to also fit Roy's TFA clamp card without shaving any of it down, and position the grips and clip in the right direction. But it's pretty late, so I'll have to Dremel more tomorrow.

I'd really like to get myself an ESB hilt and from what I've read on here, the Graflex 2.0 is the best option. If so, what options do I have for ordering one? Are there any UK sellers or do I have to order from Parks? Does the kit come with everything I need? Are there any issues that I need to be aware of. I'm not interested in putting sounds, lights or a blade in it.

Thanks a bunch if you can help!

Korbanth and TCSS are both selling them as well. Korbanth through the junkyard here i believe.

If you want a hilt made for electronics it's great-- if you desire super accuracy, you can pre-order the reproduction Roman is developing that may be ready by the end of the year (which is still quicker than ordering from parks).

Thanks! Why are the TCSS prices considerably less than Roman's? Is it purely down to quality/accuracy?

The Graflex 2.0 comes reasonably accurate, and can be modded to be 85-95% accurate. It has pre-drilled holes and taps for all the parts. It's intent is to be a lightsaber. It's made by, and intended for, the electronic saber crowd. It's designed to be wired with lights, speakers and hold a blade.

That said, it's currently the cheapest way to get a Graflex-based saber on your shelf without being a toy. It's more accurate and less expensive than the official offering. It's perfectly good for being a static hilt too.

Roman is making a replica camera flash right down to the Graflex stamp on the bottom. No current product exists yet to judge accuracy, but if you look at Roman's other stuff, you can trust it to be in the 95-99% accurate. That's not to say it couldn't be wired-- there are ways to wire an actual Graflex now, so I assume you could do the same-- but his intent is to make as faithful of a reproduction of the original Graflex as possible and leave it anyone who buys one to convert.

Just tested my LEDs today. Tried with the battery tester I bought to make sure the LEDs actually work (2xAA battery pack with wires, similar to Shoot2Thrill's). LEDs were bright until I put the blade on. Kind of dim.

Then I tested it with the 18650 battery. Yup. That'll do. (My eyes, why god...)

Thanks, still got more milling of the chassis to except the nano and battery but I've got a plan for that, I do have some other projects to finish before this is done but I may find a day an step away from and kick some time on this its been off and on. but getting there. Thanks....Jim
