Way too much reboot stuff acting as peg warmers in the boys action figure aisle. Goes to show that having all female main characters and no male characters for the boys to relate too doesn't work.

Exactly!
As excited as I am about the new movie this toy line was destined to be doomed. No, not because of the quality of the movie (anybody who thinks THAT is an idiot!) but because it's a line of female action figures! No matter how good the movie will be, boys don't want to play with girl toys. Girls also don't want to play with action figures even if there are female characters. It's like Barbie doing a line of dolls specifically for boys (however, have you seen the new Batman doll in the Barbie line? It's pretty bad ass!).

Thanks for posting! There's really not much new info, but I LOVE that they asked Reitman about fan's getting a peek at the unproduced script(s). I really hope that goes somewhere. IDW comic adaptations would be a great outlet for the GB3 scripts and Aykroyd's solo GB scripts. If I could have anything out of the franchise, merch-wise, it would be that.

"“I couldn’t figure out how to do [that movie],” Feig said. “[Maybe] somebody else could’ve. When people get mad at me about it, [I say] ‘They came to me.’ That’s all I can tell you, ‘They came to me.’ So I’m sorry.”

From so much of the language in interviews I am reading, either you like it or hate it with a passion.
Sounding a bit rough as I have read too many interview that take on that mantra.

that should be changed to 'she came to me...and she alone.' ahh, revisionist history.

I've met a lot of actors and musicians in my life. But one of the greatest was having dinner with Ernie Hudson. At the time, they were really close to moving forward with one of the ideas... Where they opened a portal basically to where all of hades was open to NY. Hell on earth, way beyond what they faced before. Ramos and Dan were really pushing for it.

At the time it sounded cool... But a bit "off" from the other 2...

Dear God, I so wish I could go back in time and somehow warn him of this reboot.

Damn. I bet we'll NEVER get to read about THAT version. It has bugged me for years. And the more I see of this new reboot, the more I smack my forehead that we couldn't have one more... A bookend for a TRILOGY.

Man... im seriously about to dust off my PS3 and replay the game. The only weak part is it sounds like bill is just reading off of the page while sitting in bed. But it still is the best were ever going to get.

Face it...

You ALL know it to be true.

I think that article saying that Target made a mistake marking down the reboot toys is a flat out lie. Why else would Target perform a second round of clearance markdowns today:

And guess what......the reboot toys still don't sell. LMAO.

yeah, it's probably them just covering their tracks, hoping the issue will be forgotten about in a week or so.

With Pets starting out this high at the box office, it is quite conceivable it will beat Sony’s Ghostbusters for the No. 1 spot next weekend, as that pic is currently projected between $35M-$41M.>>>

Thank you animated movies. you bea godsend.

they might have been safer with that june date against turtles.

Neil, that article lowered the expected take for the reboot to $35 to $40 million. Down from $40 to $50 million.

That's HELLBENT. I've read it-- there were some interesting ideas, but I'm betting it would have been trashed even harder than the reboot. Just out of curiosity, what year was your dinner with Hudson? I've heard varying things on how long HELLBENT was in development.

Despite being an utterley toxic individual, Faraci sees himself as the ultimate politcally correct white knight of movie critics. He doesn't care for the original movie, despises fanboys (though he is the biggest Marvel FB on the net) and has a major hardon for Feig. And his taste in movies (especially comedies) is execrable. Go figure.
Faraci was trashing the script/concept hard throughout production, even when all of the misogyny stuff was hitting. I'm actually pretty shocked that he liked it!

Here's another Faraci quote that some of you might agree with:

Regarding the "Hellbent" script, I like the premise behind it, and can quite happily allow it to exist as a first draft. Look at how much the first draft of Return of the Jedi differs from the finished film -- and I'm not even talking about earlier in George's notes where it would have basically just been the first act of the film we got (Luke rescuing Han). I like seeing how wild they can get at the spitballing/brainstorming stage, before they take a breath and rework it into a coherent story. Good lord, the sheer potential of "gateway to Hell in New York City? How would they even notice?" jokes alone...
