GHOSTBUSTERS Pre-Release - film discussion only, no social commentary please!

So, I saw Spy because I got barraged with 'have you seen a paul feig movie? you can't judge it until you see it' responses.

Not my type of movie. badly written, not one likeable guy. women are excellent at everything. F bomb count over 100 in the first 10 minutes and no one seems comfortable saying it that many times. not even sure what the plot of the main bad guy was other than to steal something. over the top in your face, don't think about it because it's so obvious comedy.

So, now i'm curious about The Heat, since it also got rave reviews. And since this one is written by the writer of Feigbusters, I'll have more of a complete picture on what this turd will be.

Guess what? more of the same crap.
Not one likeable guy. only one really competent guy... the one who hits on bullock. The women are again the best at everything, with the male FBI agents either being stupid, condescending or rude. 45 minutes into this thing, I may have chucked just once, and that was at the perp who did what most of the audience should have done, escaped from mcarthy's car out through the window to get away from this crazy movie. And Mcarthy's mother in the movie flipping her off as she drove by (cause she's a terrible person, i'm assuming). Bullock clearly doesn't like the dialogue. she can't even say most of the lines with confidence. Even Mcarthy stumbles with the un needed swear word every five seconds.

I can't imagine where this movie is going. they are trying to find a dangerous criminal, but so far 45 minutes in it's just a bunch of gags, f bombs, and situations.
No wonder bullock is smart enough not to do a sequel. she saw the light. I no longer need to see a mcarthy product ever again....i think this is her limit of 'talent'.

I've got 50 minutes to go on this crap fest. lets see if it gets any better.

All because I woke up at 6AM and couldn't sleep ;o). I guess this really is what america finds funny these days. in your face comedy.

I saw Spy and The Heat. Both I found hilarious! Not THE funniest movies I ever watched but certainly worth a viewing!

Getting set up for tonight on the slime carpet!

Regarding the "Hellbent" script, I like the premise behind it, and can quite happily allow it to exist as a first draft. Look at how much the first draft of Return of the Jedi differs from the finished film -- and I'm not even talking about earlier in George's notes where it would have basically just been the first act of the film we got (Luke rescuing Han). I like seeing how wild they can get at the spitballing/brainstorming stage, before they take a breath and rework it into a coherent story. Good lord, the sheer potential of "gateway to Hell in New York City? How would they even notice?" jokes alone...
I'm totally with you, but a lot of the cornier elements from the 1999 first HELLBENT draft remained in the later scripts-- Luke Siffler, Manhellton, and Nate- the prepubescent GB with an huge head due to his super-charged brain. I'm not even kidding.

Aykroyd has made a few passing mentions about still wanting to make HELLBENT, so who knows. Personally, I would love to see a series of IDW comic adaptations of the unproduced GB3 scripts.

That's a lot of money being spent on a reboot that looks like a failure.

also with stuff that reminds you of the original ;o) cough firehouse cough

again, it makes you wonder why they bothered to reboot it at all.
sigh.. too many untalented people in hollywood getting ahead.

well, i guess they can afford it. they didn't spend it on talent or special effects.

Faraci was trashing the script/concept hard throughout production, even when all of the misogyny stuff was hitting. I'm actually pretty shocked that he liked it!

I think those comments were made due to his dislike of reboots and eighties nostalgia. He has since gone on to ridicule fans of the original movie, and tweeted about James Rolfe being a sexist with a tiny penis. He would absoluteley give a good review to **** off the fans, he has form.

Hey guys! Look its the all new Ghostbusters! It's different! It's better! It's not connected to the originals at all, except for the firehouse, the concept, the look of the car, the logo, stay puft, twinkie references on signs, etc etc, but its all new, and it can stand on it's own!

no doubt ivan influence at least, if not sony's, once they saw what paul feig was doing.

Hey it's Matt Zion,I watch his food review channel all the time.

I think he speaks much truth, this movie is gonna S-U-C-K and it isn't really the actors fault.

i can't speak for the others, except for jones which i also think is a one trick pony based on what i've seen, but mcarthy doesn't look like she knows how to act. she just screams obscenities and tries to rush through what little dialogue there is. she actually comes off as uncomfortable in paul feig movies.

Supposedly, there could be early screenings as early as Sunday night in the UK and full on Monday morning. I guess we can expect many more
'it's horrible' reviews if the reviewer above, who isn't even really a big fan of the franchise, and still got cheesed off, is any indication.

I'm almost through the heat. where to even start? We don't really know why bullock is not trusted, since she seems to solve every case she's on. al the men act like dicks for no reason, and they manage to sneak misogynistic in. for some reason there is albino hate in here. the plot line was confusing to follow, if there was one. all i managed tofigure out was a series of connecting gags that involved lower criminals to take down a bigger criminal doing something evil. i stopped caring by that point. 200 F and 20 S bombs by the time 40 minutes got done. all the women in this movie are unlikeable too, even the main characters...but the main characters are setup to be the heroes, so they are shown to be the best at everything. mcarthy's character gets praised as 'the worlds best police officer' when she pulls guns on nurses so she can use her cell phone. guy death count, at least 8. Woman exhibiting super powers, one....with Bullock able to be withstand being stabbed in the knee twice and still somehow able to walk unless it's needed for comedy. andit's still not over. there is still ten minutes left. Katie dippold is weird, and a terrible writer. i have a feeling anything good came from bullock.

Wait is the premiere tonight?

yep. 7PM PST. we won't get any reactions that arn't sony bought though.

have to wait for monday for that.

I don't know..

After the last year of first Bay Turtles and seeing my beloved ninja turtles, that got me through some times at high school, being dragged through the mud...
And now this year of feigbusters, with the added nonsense being added in to it.

I think the fight of caring has finally gone out of me. the constant one two punch was too much.

It makes ya feel like hollywood is going to do, what hollywood is going to do, and no amount of bitching or moaning or swearing will get them to change their mind. and logical argument doesn't help either anymore, either. although it may make you feel better in the short term, especially with the additional swearing ;o).

the best you can hope for is not reward them with your money, and maybe, one day, they will wake up and get it.

I have the feeling the next thing to be ruined by sony is he-man.

I think when that hype train is coming, i'm going to unsubscribe from everything, totally disconnect, and just watch the madness unfold.
Or at least try too... right now, my inner child is totally drained ;o)

anyone else feel the same way?
i miss the days when i liked what i saw, but there is just so little of it now.

Adult swim has barely shown any commercials for this so I'm assuming they're hoping for word of mouth and controversy to get folks into the theaters. I've seen more ads for that weird movie about the brothers who need dates.
