The studio wants to discredit any dubious talk about their upcoming product. So they try to paint all the detractors with the sexist brush, among other things.

At this point the whole thing has gotten totally polarized. Either you support this movie or else you must be against it for sexist reasons. Either you are dubious about this movie or else you must be supporting it for Feminist reasons.

The debate over this movie has become a lightning rod for cultural frictions much bigger than Ghostbusters.

proving just how crazy this world has become thanks to always on social media.

I doubt this would have been even half as big not more than 5 years ago on the crazy side of supporters.
people are always around trashing things.

Interesting things to note.

Trailer 2 was deliberately not released to youtube

aren't 'recruited' screenings, just what it sounds like? like that super fan event held at ghost corps where they where going to cheer the trailer no matter how bad it was?
If so, i'd like to see if screenings of average joes or even haters went 'through the roof'....that's the real tell of how well it 'll do.

interesting to see how they didn't bring up the new tmnt movie as a reboot that had lots of panning yet did sadly well.


what I love is their plan to go on ellen with a polarizing politcial figure mentioned at the bottom of the article, but it's a subject we can't bring up here.
all kinds of crazy for a movie no one wanted.

- that ellen appearance was just sad. there was nothing too it, nothing so funny that would cause the audience to erupt like hyena's any time they said something. lots of drooling over a shirtless hemsworth...sigh. this is what it's come too.

Wow. This is one of the worst articles I have ever read. What an insufferable person that author must be in real life. Its crazy people like this exist. There are so many digs at not only men in general, but specifically white nerds. Is this really how people think? It really bothers me that not only can people spout this drivel, but then people rally behind it and support it. Its baffling. :facepalm
 
That's what most of the articles are like that are pro-movie, they're just as bad as the ones that are anti-women as a reason not to like the movie. It's gone from a film to an us vs them thing outside the fandom. It's weird that this movie is sparking so many issues.

not really. I have a feeling this was carefully orchestrated by amy pascal and paul fig newton from the start. the very first tweet was 'four runny females busting ghosts'.

not 'ghostbusters is coming'.


pretty obvious what this movie is..but, we can't discuss that here. that's why all these posts are depressing. seeing something beloved hijacked and taken down the drain. each new day, something else crazy pops up.
 
To be fair them taking it to the View was well calculated as it's the specific audience they're trying to get into the theater. Which is odd as most women I know hate the View. Maybe they figure the movie would be forgotten without some controversy to get people to notice, that's usually what happens to even reboots that do okay. Sadly no matter what Fieg is laughing all the way to the bank just like Bay and Abrams does every time they make a big steaming pile.

There are crazies and somewhat logical, normal people on all sides. It's just a movie. It's up to each individual fan to go bonkers and complain... go bonkers and defend... anticipate it... or completely ignore it. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I'm going in as a VERY passionate fan with an open mind and expectations firmly in-check.

We're getting an interesting peek into the individual fan's true colors. It's entertainment. Nothing more-- nothing less.

On the female angle, I couldn't look my girlfriend, mother, grandmothers, aunts, cousins, or friends in the eye and tell them women can't be Ghostbusters.

On the fan angle, if you aren't happy with this reboot, there are two PRIMO documentaries coming out, including the making-of doc CLEANIN' UP THE TOWN: REMEMBERING GHOSTBUSTERS. I can't even begin to tell you the sheer amount of awesomeness that's going to be in this thing. :D
 
Slightly related: walmart still hasn't gotten the ecto coolers in yet, my dad said there isn't even a spot set up anywhere for it. I'm sure he'll keep an eye out as he cleans.
 
The low point of a low interview. pretty much the only reason hemsworth is in the movie.

it's ok to do it one way, but god forbid we buy a hot woman calendar ;o)..

Any chance your dad can get a bead on some info here in CA? I might get diabetes from all the ecto cooler Im going to consume when it finally arrives. I hope it tastes the same!
 
They just had "recruited" screening in Arizona. It was only for "normal" people that were "recruited" by a general email saying respond if you want to attend a secret movie screening and give your opinion in a survey at the end. Which ended up being the reboot. Obviously I heard about it from folks afterwards.

They were looking for the general moviegoer opinion, not biased superfans that will cheer anything as I seem to keep reading.

This is just from the official FB page for it. Allegedly on the cans, the slime will become green when it's cold. Slimer isn't on the packaging because of a rule about using characters to attract kids to unhealthy foods. A bunch of folks that run blogs got a sample can last week and they all say it tastes exactly the same. Also a big plus is that the cooler is BRIGHT green now.
