GHOSTBUSTERS Pre-Release - film discussion only, no social commentary please!

This is just from the official FB page for it. Allegedly on the cans, the slime will become green when it's cold. Slimer isn't on the packaging because of a rule about using characters to attract kids to unhealthy foods. A bunch of folks that run blogs got a sample can last week and they all say it tastes exactly the same. Also a big plus is that the cooler is BRIGHT green now.

I dont have FB either so thanks for that. Oh my god, are you kidding me? A rule about attracting kids to unhealthy foods? Give me break, the times we live in are so awful. How about holding the parents accountable for not giving too much unhealthy stuff to kids? Do kids have jobs? Can they buy their own stuff? Ridiculous. Thank god it tastes the same. I got a can of surge when amazon sold it last year, and I thought it didnt taste as sweet as it did when I was in high school. Ahhh, the citrusy goodness awaits!

I don't know Kate, but Kristen Wiig cracks me up. Her very small role in wet hot american summer was perfection

They just had "recruited" screening in Arizona. It was only for "normal" people that were "recruited" by a general email saying respond if you want to attend a secret movie screening and give your opinion in a survey at the end. Which ended up being the reboot. Obviously I heard about it from folks afterwards.

They were looking for the general moviegoer opinion, not biased superfans that will cheer anything as I seem to keep reading.

......WELL?! Don't leave us hangin', man! What was the overall response?

Well obviously with the NDA they were tightlipped on story stuff as they should be and I didn't want it anyways. What I did hear was very mixed. Some things worked, some things didn't. It obviously could still be cut and re-edited based on the reactions. Ivan and Paul were at it for Q and A etc. I like to think that's evidence of how much they really want to get the film right especially with all the fuss it's caused.

Gotcha. thanks for the info!

it would have be better to have carried the story as a continuation of the original movie and passing of the torch but this movie seems to be setting up not just to be a reboot of the franchise but a dip into the direction that the original story wanted to go towards!

I'm just hoping that this dose not get court up in gender issues swings that are contentious of our time.

I'm still feeling my suspicion from months ago - Sony has dumped way more effort into salvaging this project than it would have taken to do it better in the first place.

and also, this thing is probably going to be edited heavily right up to the last minute, so any reviews will probably mean nothing until released.

we pretty much know that it's an entire rip off of the first movie at this point anyway, so how tough is it to screw that up? even right down to a 100 foot tall white ghost.

We do a lot of these screenings. I asked one of the studio types, why they go out to AZ or Nor cal to do the screening? He said LA is too jaded, filled with critics and people in the biz. They want the average joes reaction, like 'Boy, I wish the bad guy got killed in the end'. Not the LA persons reaction, "The protagonist reaction to the climax in the second act was dismissive of his background'.

I have to agree, they want to make a movie that audiences will respond well to, not looking to remake the movie.

As an attendee of the Sony PR event I can tell you straight up that even though there was a standing ovation for the trailer it was because we were all die hard ghostbusters fans which was smart of sony. They paid for about 80+ people to fly over to LA and stay at hotels to watch the trailer. What was smart of them was to include a tour at Sony studios and a chance to meet Ivan Reitman which was the only reason I went. Call me a sellout if you must but I'm still against this movie and yes I applauded after the trailer only out of respect. Now about that test screening, one of my buddys who was actually at that Sony event with me actually attended that test screening this past weekend and said that the reaction of the audience was less than stellar. He also went on to say that apart from Feig and Reitman being in the audience there were a bunch of crew members and Sony execs spread throughout the audience watching people like hawks for their reactions. He later went on to say that one of the crew members was sitting right next to him and was very concerned that he and a bunch of other people were not laughing. So yeah a bunch of horse *beep* from Sony about the screening testing through the roof.>>>>
