General Thade (Planet of the Apes) build

THAT´S FRAKKING FANTASTIC!
:eek:thumbsup

i followed this thread since you started it and i couldn´t imagine that a custom made mask could look that good!
awesome work!

Has been a while since I have done any work on this, got stuck into it this week.

My armour sculpt had fallen apart from the hot weather so I had to rebuild it.

Just about ready for moulding, just need to get some RTV silicone.

Will recycle the clay to make the other armour parts.

Have also done some work on the chainmail undersuit, it's barley twist rope stuck to a TK style undersuit with latex. The latex allows the fabric to stretch. Only doing the parts that are visible. Long way to go yet!!

That's it for the moment.

I'm definitely in the Original Apes Film camp and was severely disappointed in Tim Burton's film, but I loved Tim Roth's Thade and his make-up design. It was a fresh new take that was very convincing. You have done an outstanding job on this. I love the hair line and subtle paint job along it, with all those tiny barely noticeable spots receding under the hair. It's really pro work.

And I love the gloves. Everything about them: concept, design and execution. I am SO gonna copy that for some Chewie hands! I'm so glad I saw that because I was just about to get into some revised hands and was gonna try a somewhat different route and I like your design way better.

And I also agree, I think the amount of hair on the hands is perfect. The believable and natural sparseness are what really sell it for me.

You really have done a superb job on this! Most impressive. Any "Apes" fan would be proud to have this in their collection.

Man if the mask is already looking killer, then what do we have to expect when your done with the whole outfit?!

Just great ! :eek

The mould is finished, only through casting will i know for sure whether it's a good mould. Its latex/cheesecloth combo with a plaster support mould.

But I think it looks the part so far.

Will wait til the acrylic resin hardens completely before trimming and touching up.
Then on to the painting.
