General Thade (Planet of the Apes) build

Yeah come on Dave, we're all dying to see some more of this build!
Looks totally awesome, the detailing is looking beautiful mate!:love

Very nice work, what did you use to make the cuirrass/amor? I'm looking at doing something similar (casting from a mold) and your method of doing it looks exactly like how I want to do it but I don't what materials to use to make the castings from and how to apply the materials either.

Well let me say, I'm not big fan of the movie, but I think you just resived a fan of you work :O holy cow!

Resurrecting this project! There are so many parts to this costume, my brain feels like exploding! :wacko

Anyway, I thrashed out the main form of the bracelet detail, going to make a silicone mould and cast it in fastcast flexible resin or something similar!

Also thrashed out the general shape of the right thigh armour, it has a bark like texture with some symbols.

Have revamped the mask too, given it a darker more sinister appearance!

Dougie,

where did you get your ears from for the Thade mask, I'm planning on doing this for Halloween and just bought the MCA appliance for Thade's face, but can't find prosthetic ears anywhere (for Thade or any other type of chimp). Any leads?

Thanks,

JYH

Restarting this project and re-doing most of the pieces from scratch!

Most of them have been thrown about in the last year and are showing some signs of neglect.
I'm not going to resculpt everything, just make lighter fibreglass versions of the armour. Don't know what possessed me to use jesmonite for the castings, inexperience I guess!

But I am going to make a new mask from scratch, sculpting my own on a lifecast. The old mask looks great and all but it just doesn't look right in profile.

Looking forward to seeing you progress Thade, Doug. Don't be shy with the photos either. As I'm no longer associated with the 'Apes' forum board this is the only place i can see your progress.

At last I managed to pull fibreglass versions of the front, back and shoulder armour!

They look as rough as, need to clean them up before I post any pics.
What the hell was i thinking using jesmonite originally???? U live and learn.
