General Thade (Planet of the Apes) build

I have to say WOW!!!!
Great work. I'm going to start a Dr Zaius very soon and all I can hope for is mine comes out half as good as yours did!!

What amazing skills you have. The mask and hands are fantastic, pro-quality work. The chest armor is beautifully done as well.

Where did you learn to do all this? I'm extremely impressed! :love

Thanks for sharing your progress with us here! :thumbsup

Thank you for all your input guys, this project is going at a snails pace because I have never done anything like this before.
On a roll at the moment, really hope to have most of the armour done in the next 2 months.

All the more impressive since this is your first time. You seem to have a natural talent for this! I just can't get over how great your work looks. :love

How well does the mask move with your face? What kinds of emotions are you able to express through facial expressions?

I used prosaide to attach the mask so it does move quite well particularly around the mouth area, could do with more work on the brow.

Just finished the top of the undersuit, it resembles a type of chainmail.

I had an earlier version that was made from rope latexed to a TK style undersuit but it was proving a little too difficult. So I decided to cover my mannequin in klean klay and sculpt a negative mould with a difference.

The idea was to cover the negative mould in latex and then turn it inside out.

So I started by inprinting the rope design on in the klay.

I then covered it in latex with a cheesecloth layer and then peeled it off the sculpt and turned it inside out to reveal a positive cast off. Was a risky venture because it was time consuming but it worked a treat.

Here is the bolero jacket style chainmail ready for a coating of pax paint.

It will be attached to a thermal sports top, some areas will have hair punched into it.

it worked a treat.

I'll say! :eek

Ingenious approach, and brilliant results. I'm absolutely enjoying this thread, seeing how you overcome each obstacle with creativity and wonderful technique. Thank you for sharing your work with us.

Can't wait to see the next step! :love

Beginning of the shoulder bell sculpt.

Finished the shoulder bells, just need to weather them slightly!
The texture was applied with an avocado of all things lol!
Have began working on some detailing that attached the shoulders to the rest of the armour.

Hair punched into skin areas on the undersuit, need to trim it back a bit. Skin is darker in reality.

The back armour sculpt is well underway, will post pics soon.

Have most of the top half complete now, just about to mould and cast the back armour. Recycled the monkeys from the front, it's a mirror image of the chest armour.

Next step is to make a muscle suit to bulk out my back in particular. A few details and then piece it together.
Going hell for leather to get the whole costume finished by early November.

That's amazing! I didn't really care for the movie but the make up and costumes were outstanding!

In the process of moulding the back armour, this project was on hold while I finished Bib Fortuna but is back in full swing now.

Will post more pics soon! My November deadline is out the window.
