Game of Thrones

so we are basically back to square one with Dany's story

Still that was pretty bad ass

Now let's hope she does what she should have the first time and go to Westeros with a Dothraki army after a quick stop in Meeren to get ships from the slavers

Also I loved the mealtime scene with the Night's Watch. That was pretty funny

Pretty solid episode.

So, Dany's story....I'm kinda meh about. I don't think this is how it'll go down in the books. Not exactly, anyway. I think this was more of a shortcut the show took to move her thing along, and that Dany will generally use a different method to get the Dothraki to follow her again. It just seems too "Yeah, George, we're not taking another 15 episodes to get Dany out of this situation. Time to move on with her."

I'm enjoying Tyrion's plotline with him running Mereen. I sincerely hope that he ends up in a similar position in the books. Likewise, I'm loving the idea of Jon taking back the North. That and watching Littlefinger try to maneuver the Arryns to attack the North, presumably because the two will smash each other to pieces and leave Littlefinger to pick up what's left. Also, looks like Robin hit his growth spurt! Dude was taller than Aiden Gillen!

I LOVE what Sansa has turned into. It almost makes her annoying qualities from earlier seasons worthwhile. Almost.

And I absolutely laughed out loud at Tormund giving Brienne the eye. I mean, I knew he was gonna do it, but it was just such great comedy to watch.

Sad to see Osha go, but again, I think that's more of the show cutting through Martin's knots to just move pieces to where they need to be. I expect that storyline (with Rickon resurfacing) to go a bit differently and be more drawn out.

Lastly, the stuff in King's Landing is interesting...but I'm curious at how it'll end up playing out. While I think the High Sparrow might end up being taken out, my guess is that the Faith Militant aren't gonna disappear quite so easily.

I think that we're going to see a lot of shortcuts being taken this season, which isn't a bad thing in and of itself. Martin seems to have committed himself fully to making A Song of Ice and Fire a 7 book series no matter what, even if that means dragging out the story so that it take 7 books to finish, even when he could have taken just 5 or 6. Personally, I love what happened this episode, I like what the show's writers are doing with overall story and I hope that Martin takes some cues from the show and starts wrapping up the Dany in Iraq storyline and really starts moving the plot along. No more treading water, no more introducing major players to the game, no more potential red herrings, just move things along so that it well nice and neatly by the end of book 7 without feeling rushed because he let things get too drawn out for too long.

The only think bugging me (and I don't take any personal offense to the word used in shows/movies) is they seem to be really ramping up the F-bomb in this season. I can only recall a handful of times it being said in the series, but this season it's like, "Let's put it in about 3-5 times every episode, guys." It is starting to stand out like a sore thumb and feels less authentic... but what do I know? Maybe they said it a lot back in the medieval times....

Great episode, but was it me or was something strange with Emilia Clark's head ? Kinda didn't look like her !

Its a fantasy show, so I feel like they can use almost any language they want. I'd rather they use an actual word in those sorts of instances rather than make up some silly word like feldarcarb.

I want to know what the deal was with the Red Comet from way back?

"Reports indicate that it was a large ball of ice which, when it came into contact with the upper atmosphere, giving off a long trail of superheated debris which was colored red."

I took it to be an omen of things to come - dragons, magic, the Others, etc. The comet itself wouldn't do anything, but served to get everyone's attention that stuff was about to get weird.

I'd actually say the opposite - I believe they've toned down the F-bomb from a few years back. And, a lot less sex, more story. The only nudity so far this season (unless I'm forgetting something?) was Dani last night and Millesandra a couple of weeks ago, both non sexual. I approve.

Great episode, but was it me or was something strange with Emilia Clark's head ? Kinda didn't look like her !

I think it may have been a (little wonky)CGI model of her body from past nude scenes used, or maybe a complete render?

Since Emilia was very vocal about not shedding her clothes after seasons 1-3, I wouldn't be surprised.

Pretty good episode:
1. FINALLY got a couple of Starks back together and I really liked Jon being tired from constantly fighting and Sansa's character progression.

2. Knew Osha was going to die and figured the way it would go down. Like Ramsey said, "there wasn't really a use for her" anymore, so.... But it leads to #3.

3. GNC anyone?! And will Ramsey suspect or will he figure Osha was just trying to escape with Rickon again.

4. Tormund and Brienne, I couldn't stop laughing during that scene, so good and neat that someone would actually may be interested in her and she was legitimately awkward about it. Wildlings and what Yigritte said in the past probably makes him VERY interested in her.

Nope, according to Emilia Clarke, it was 100% her.

But before any assumptions are made about Clarke’s participation in the scene, there’s something the actress wants everybody to know. “I’d like to remind people the last time I took my clothes off was season 3,” she says. “That was awhile ago. It’s now season 6. But this is all me, all proud, all strong. I’m just feeling genuinely happy I said ‘Yes.’ That ain’t no body double!”

As to why it looked weird, I think it may just be bad compositing. Her nudity was shot on a closed set in Belfast while the rest was shot on location, and the two reels were composited together.

In terms of her decision about nudity, it seems that she doesn't want to do it gratuitously. Bumping uglies with Daario is gratuitous. Last nights episode was not. Dany may hold the title of The Unburnt, but her clothing holds no such distinction.

I feel like I'm being dense or something, but what is GNC?

Also, I was giggling the whole time over Tormund making eyes at Brienne. That whole dinner sequence was delightfully awkward for everyone involved.

Ah well my bad ! Must have been the lightning, her face looked more angular, harder than her usual more rounder face somehow. Good for her though !

While eating in the least sexy manner possible. I totally laughed at that one.
