That's an OTF springer knife! They used to be quite cheap, I think I paid $25 for mine!

If i was given the brief of putting together the Presidents Def Con briefcase, a spoon, switchblade and a storm kit wouldnt be the first things i would come up with, love it.

Thanks for your help with the case as well Jeff, it arrived today and got stuck straight in. Used correction fluid and a toothpick to do the Kanji and found a couple of $4 belts that match up colour wise fairly well, they may be a little bigger than the screen used but until i find something smaller, will be perfect.

Glad it arrived safely! I'd dug thru my leather stash but didn't find anything close enough.
Here's a shot of the knife. They used to be easily obtainable at any flea market. I'll scout around for a 2nd one if you're looking.

The idea of using the cheap belts will work fine, hitting the market on the weekend where theres thousands of dodgy belts, can then focus on the right handles.

All I can dig up on the kit is "Your All Purpose Storm Kit for Emergency Overnight" by Tacoma Mountain Rescue. That actually looks like a marine kit to me, because of the orange tube.

On the knife and spoon, I thought it might be a folding fork/spoon mess kit combo. I found the Switchblade Spork: Switchblade Spork

Now I think it's just a regular, cheap switchblade. The president puts it down when he's handed the Declaration of War.

Here's my most recent communication with the manufacturer:

We are looking for old collapsavle handle styles, will follow up today.

Here is what I found out so far;
We run this size case 50 at a time, so we have to qte smaller qty. Any green commercial paint can be spec'd by Customer; fed std 595 or pantone colors available. Smooth or textured ok, cases are made from stock cans so that helps. I will get this finished and sent Monday.

So can anyone make out what Pantone color it should be?

Have you all been good little Lectroids cause its Christmas on Planet 10.

These three little rippers are all care of stromo. He put together the DoW paper and the toe tag, I put the case label content together and stromo digitised it. To compliment the previously posted toe tag, stromo made a clear version so it can be printed straight on to a manilla folder. Awesome Stu.

This is indeed Christmas in April!!! I'm quickly running out of excuses not to finish my case. These look excellent.

I'm excited to hear and see what you end up with from the company.

As to the exact color of green, I just don't know. To my eye, the color changes considerably from screen grab to screen grab. I'd even swear in one or two of them, the case is textured. I don't think the Tamayia green I showed above is quite right but it's close. This statement won't get me any awards here on the forum but I'm going to be happy with 'pretty darn close' on this one.

If I can get a close enough color I'll go with that, I'm hoping they can get the right collapsing handle but haven't heard back yet. The thing is, I don't know that they're going to want to do a lot of one offs in this order, so if it looks like we can get the right one then everyone will probably want to hop in for one group order. I'll provide a Interest thread in the Junkyard if I can when it looks like it comes to that point.

Im convinced the case it textured as well Ted, it shows up in the indoor shots but in the daylight with extra external lighting, its washed out.

They're asking for the color to use for painting the case, and sent me to this site to pick out a color: Federal Standard 595 Fed-Std-595 Color Specification, Fan Deck, Paint Chips I'm thinking the color is FS 34083, anyone have a thought on it?

Looks like they can put collapsing handles on the cases, here's the handle they located to put on the case. How does this look?

34083 looks like its spot on. The collapsing handle is not correct. There are no "ends" that extend past the handle ends on the prop case. The handle attachments need to slide under the handle rather than out if you get my meaning.

Yeah, it's not exact, but still better than the one that just folds over. I'm not sure how far realistically I can push these guys for accuracy. I'm more concerned that it seems to be a bit long if those dimensions are in inches.

In considering this handle, it could work. We would need to reverse the attachment pieces so they fold under the handle. I wish I could get a handle and box and mess it around a bit. The handle may be too long as well. It looks a bit smaller in the pics than the 7 ish inches of this example.

How about they make it with no handle. It might be cheaper and than we can source those seperately. Just a thought.

You know, I was just considering that, asking for no handle. It may be the best option and then work on finding something we can get handles from to put on.
