Firefly - Kaylee costume

SHe reminds me of a good friend of mine and ALMOST looks like her. I should talk her into duin this costume. Great job onit, btw.

Just keep searching eBay with the search words
Bahia cigar
box bahia
trinidad cigar
trinidad bahia
trinidad box

These things come up on a fairly regular basis.
You just need to align your cash flow to your searches!

Search Cigar Box Bahia Trinidad

on eBay cuz there is one of these on there now, if anyone is interested.
It is one of the orange ones exactly like I made my Kaylee/Book strawberry box from.
A lot of effort to properly strip, but it's at $0.99 and $6.80 shipping w/ four days to go.

As a confirmation;
When I won the last eBay auction pennausamike pointed out, I used a sander to strip the orange box I got, used a razor and wood glue to flip the top of the box upside down where it joins the hinge (the Bahia logo on the inside cover wants to be on the outside cover) and stained the whole thing.
Top that off with a scuffed up green stamp I printed off the interwebz onto a sheet of adhesive printer paper and my (girlfriends) strawberry box looks DEAD on!

Thank you, pennausamike!

I used an orange smelling chemical stripper and THEN sanded it.
The orange came off pretty easily but there was a white-ish primer that was a little tougher.

In the screencap I had, it showed the logo on the inside, tho' I'm sure it was on the inside and outside.
You can see in the pic on page two how I display mine, so I wanted the logo to show when the lid is open.
It is totally the choice of the builder.
If you display it closed, it also saves buying the fake strawberries,
but other Browncoats will still get what the prop is.

This is a great, inexpensive prop project that you can still call your own because a little elbow grease is involved.
I'm glad you're happy because there is nothing worse than recommending something and having it not work out for the other person.

Post some pics!!

OK.
It took a little while to get to my girlfriend Carol's place to take the pic.
(Please forgive the thread linking. It seemed relevant enough to 'combine' the threads.)

Kaylee opening the box in the pilot.

Carol opening hers on my counter.

How Carol's began life.

How it ended up.

Here's the stamp I downloaded and printed to finish it off, btw.

So, whatcha all think? I had a little trouble matching stains, but the one I made is actually a bit darker than it appears here. Bright lights and flash and all that...

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but my wife is having me put together a Kaylee costume for her, and I have a quick question about the jumpsuit.

How is the sizing? The options are small, med, and large, but how small is small/ how large is large? I didn't notice any measurements...

Thanks,
-ds

No problem with the necro threading.

Well, my girlfriends jumpsuit is a size medium and at 5' 4" it fits her about right.
I can't really speak for how the other sizes fit.

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone have any up to date, leads on the hart, and flower patches, and does anyone know a good place to get the cigar box now-a-days?

Yeah, I didn't mention the Bear patch, because I already have one. (I think I got it from a different seller though, and I paid a little more for it, either that, or that seller lowered there price. )

Does any one have any good clear pics of the flower, and hart patchs?

I looked all over the net, and the promo pics, but I just can't quite make out the detail of either patch. I looked on ebay months ago, and yes they have tons of hart, and flower patches, but I don't know what size, and shape I'm looking for without pics of the screen used ones.

Sorry about that... I am no longer doing biz as "Monkeyshines Beadery" but I AM still making Kaylee necklace replicas like the one in your pictures. My new website is JLHjewelry.com.

Oh, that is very good news. :)

It's a little off topic, but do you still offer any of the inara necklaces? I've always been a fan of the the one from "Trash". It's kind of simple, but I really like the look of it. There is also another one in your archived Inara Cosplay jewery that I really like as well, but I'm not sure witch episode it is from.

Well, thank you for finding your way here!
