took me so much time, trial, error, building, stitching, unstitching... and thinking but thanks, I got it now, the next pair will be the good one :)
(and i'll still have like 4/5 pair i've made :) )

My next challenge would be to make the soles but this is not my field and I don't have the equipement and knowledge for that.
Might be able to "sculpt it" but not thenexts steps (molding, casting, what material t use etc)

here is my new Denim Mag proto :D
Left shoe almost done !

I'm still working on two other project like this one and I still find out some improvements on every part of the Mags... So the Final shoe that I'll do after these ones would be my best I guess But I preserve this one for a special sole.

some other shots available on my instagram @ mokka_deez : https://www.instagram.com/mokka_deez/

WOW that looks good. Given you seem to have fixed the liner issues, will you show your modded patterns?

I am in the process of re-drawing the patterns from the official MAG, except this time I will do the entire sheet, not just the 11 parts I considered to be important.

The patern is not so different as the first one i used or the RD pattern, the differences are the height (about 1cm smaller than the rd) and the lace box shape. I did also got rid of the arch on the back, this was too complex to do and bring not so much for the overall shape of the shoe as i 'm not looking to make them like the rd...

The main thing is to do the shoe by following specific steps to get it right and not getting into some struggles.
The most difficult part is the laces and the ears (that is why i've been doing a simple version without them till i understood how to make them).
this collar part is a thing by itself. If you don't do the thing following the correct steps, you're good to unsew, and start again :/
as for the ears holes, i didn't do them good here, but now, i know how to do them good ! and this is about 10 operations that you'll have to do.

i might put some pictures when i'll make a final pair. But i think it won't be tomorrow...

But yes, you should consider redraw from the RD pattern and keep only essential parts.
For me there is only 4 patterns needed to make my mags :
- the upper is one piece
- the white collar
- the laces
- and the strap
you can make a decent shoe without adding other things ( sure i add some reinforcements in the heel and the toe but i don't really trace these)

When I am done, I will post a JPEG, then provide a link to share the fil in Sketch Up so anyone that wants access will be able to scale and print these any size they need.

They look cool in grey. I'd own them. Though I would lose the laces for those magnetic clips. NZ invention I think.

cool, i'll have to scann my drawing if i were to provide my contribution to the community.
But it is no way near the RDs... But They actually look like the movie shoe if you modify the backs to be arched and add the ribs in.

I'd really like to make a final Shoe in grey now, but I don't find the same material in grey and I don't have the tools (airbrush) to tint a white fabric that I have :/

Some new pics before glueing them to the soles...

yep, I guess I'm ready to make a Real Grey Mag now !
It is almost 1 year since I've started this quest, I learnt so much about shoe making...

Need to get the right material or a grey fabric... This is what makes me not doing it for the moment. Any advice on what to use and where to get it ?

I took my HC Mags into a Joanne's Fabric to match the cloth.

It was most similar to a bolt labeled 'polyester knit'. Except the weave was slightly smaller than the shoe cloth.

could you post a closeup picture of it ?
did you find the correct grey ? (lighter than the one from the HCs)

I never purchased the bolt. And I wasn't trying to color match, just trying to determine the kind of fabric.

The HC is definitely a synthetic knit.

my personal version 3 is on the way...
That'll probably be the last shoe I build. Then, I'll wait for the V3 from David drop some more $ or the non electronic release to get a Display pair :)

pic soon...

you might consider asking him if he has any broken pair (seconds) that he wants to get rid of.
I thought about that when making my second order but didn't want to confuse him due to translation difficulty. Now that my working pair arrived, I might ask...... one day. Spent enough on MAGs for now, I think. (2 x V3)
:D
