But smashing built mate.. Awesome collection to any back to the future display!!

hi
could you post up the wiring and which resisters required.
is it same as jedifyfe's diagram?

Yea it's the same as Brads diagram.

Take a look at my videos on my YouTube channel, one of them goes through my Maplins receipt to show which LEDs and resisters I used :thumbsup

Cheers mate.

I haven't done the blue speckled effect because at the time I actually preffered it without to be honest. It's great to replicate the genuine Mags, but there are things I prefer about my replicas to my genuine ones. For one, the replicas are more comfortable, more like wearing big socks :lol

Brad gave me the idea of the toe adjustment via pm a while back as he was considering it myself. I believe I was the first to execute and document it for the board, but couldn't have done it without his idea. :thumbsup He has taken the whole plastic cup out of the front, but I personally just trimmed it to leave a bit of a lip there to hold the shape a little when wearing a lot. Either way is fine.

Oh, and for those with a keener eye, yes there is a slight link between the EL soles on one shoe. I used black tape to block out the light on the other, and though it worked very well, you could see it through the rubber so I used a grey lighter tape that you couldn't see....but once it was glued together you could see a slight bit of light coming through. It's FAR worse on photos, it's hardly noticeable in real life.

Hi!

I love you're work with the shoes! Couple of questions though. I just ordered my first markpoons and can't wait for them to arrive. I see that you completely detached the upper part from the sole. Did you use the same glue that you used with the toe correction to reattach it? If so, how is it holding up? Would it stand normal daily wear? I was thinking of using some sort of epoxy glue, maybe that would work too?
And about detaching the upper part. Do you think it would help to use a heat gun to melt the glue or will it damage the sole?

I actually used superglue and it's amazing, not one sign of it coming loose and when I say I wear them out and about, I have literally been out on numerous nights out in them.

That's not to say there isn't a better more flexible glue that will come apart better for maintenance to the shoes, but for me this works fine.

P.s. thanks for the compliments, it's what makes these hard projects worth while.

hi Luke

what glue did you use?
i went to tesco and saw a few different ones, like Bostik and some other gel glue types.

or did you use a spray one?

thanks

Loctite superglue. Just the usual tube stuff but with the accurate thin tip. :thumbsup

Great job! Where did you get your cuttable EL sheet from?

eBay doesn't seem to show you many purchases so had to sift through all my paypal invoices! :facepalm:angry:lol

This is the exact one that I got MTB, although I think Brad has a more expensive one where you have more metal connector tabs around the sides so you can cut more than 4 shapes from it. If you mess up with this one I got, you're a bit screwed and delivery times are a while with it been from China.

p.s. Thanks for the kind words. It's great to receive good feedback from the original guys who made all our ideas possible. CloneProps and a few others are now taking this thing to the next level with more accurate materials. :thumbsup

Thanks for the info. Why couldn't we glue shoes our selves? After all, many of them are already held together by glue already when bought from store. :D

Luke you absolute legend! Loving the more screen accurate look with the darker grey. Tempted myself now to buy another pair of markpoons mags and do what you've done.

Cheers matey :thumbsup

If you didn't quite catch what I used early on in the thread, here's the fabric pen that I used. I have had light rain on mine when wearing out and it didn't dye out:

Fabrico pen (#181 cool grey)

You should do, it's easy to convert and I'm happy to provide advice in this thread to all.
