EP VII Millennium Falcon

I don't think he stumbled upon it. He's been actively looking for it. For the first time in apparently quite a while, it is off the surface of Jakku. It probably has an ID signature or something that Han has a constant sensor search running to look for.

Actually I think it was Han that said the Millenium Falcon was now back in the hands of Han Solo before the guy radioed!

depends how they are set up. used to be that the director was the ditch digger and the producer told him where to dig the hole. george did it that way for two of them star wars movies.
notice the oscars when they announce best picture. the producers come up to claim it.
he didn't have to do it the hollywood way. the last 3 he did, the producer was his errand boy.
it was his money. he bought his freedom to do so and have no "suits" interfere. jj and whatever director have to play nice with the moneylenders now.
good thing they seem to be reasonable and give him a lot of leash to roam with.

credit the orson welles who was instrumental in the whole "director as star" thing. they smacked him down good, though....

Are we past the 'spoilers' window then?
I still am digesting the movie, not sure how I feel about the turns it took. I was glad to see the MF back in action for sure, but almost makes me think the title should have been "The Falcon Awakens"... plus the whole story arc just seemed a remash of something I've seen before (now, what movie had this same plot? On the tip o' me cortex, for certain...)

Did I mention I was glad to see the Falcon fly again?

Saw it again today, Han said something like "you think it was luck that we found you? The First Order can pick up the Falcon's signal as easy as we can."

Re: Thoughts about the Millennium Falcon in "Star Wars The Force Awakens"

Was the whole "ship of riddles" thing "fixed" in TFA? What I mean is, did the full size set match up to the CGI model or miniature?

No, the "ship of riddles" thing in not "fixed" in TFA. As far as I have been able to ascertain, the so-called TFA full size set was built to the same size as the previous SW full size set incarnations, forced perspective and all.

Finally saw it last night. Seeing the Falcon again was great. The production team really did a fantastic job, really did their homework, and it's a joy to watch. There were a bunch of little things I enjoyed, like Finn standing on the console to look out the window. They really explored the set in an interesting way.

Of course jumping to hyperspace from inside Han's freighter, and then dropping out feet away from the surface of Starkiller Base later, were pretty ridiculous. They were the only things I didn't really dig about the Falcon in this, but it hardly ruined the fun for me.

I think Sofaking mentioned that he was distracted from the action of the movie by looking at all the details, heh, I had the same problem. Cannot wait for some screencaps for TFA.

THANK YOU! I was wondering how Han and Chewie found the MF! I have to go back and watch the movie again... and again and again and again ;)

I kept bouncing from story to sets from plot to props... it was killing me. I missed SO MUCH important dialogue. The first chase scene on Jakuu made the hair on the back of my neck stand up! It was awesome seeing her from all those different angles.

Agreed - bring on the Screen Grabs! :)

Have you guys seen this? A very nice Lego build of the Ep VII version.

A fellow calling himself Marshall Banana built this beauty. Is he perhaps a member here?

Hi, guys! I'm a new member, after having rediscovered the forum a couple months ago.

I'm also in my first year of 3D modeling, and am in so much awe of the eye-bleeding details and passion on display here.

I can't wait to dive in to the conversations full-force! :)

Speaking of TFA, all 6 of the family saw it on Christmas Day. So good. Will be going back for iMax 3D the next time!

Hey Steve, no screen grabs I can find yet, but I did find a small 800px deleted scene image of the interior.
Found it here On page 3 of the article it says about this image "...appears in the Visual Dictionary."

And an image on Amazon from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Incredible Cross-Sections Hardcover which you may find interesting. :)
Looks like they painted the cross section art over an image of the model from the film.

Some nice detail on the back of the radar dish and other areas. :)

Re: Thoughts about the Millennium Falcon in "Star Wars The Force Awakens"

Man you should see how people are bitching about how horrible/terrible and wrong Chewie looked and acted, Saying how he didn't feel the same as he did 30ish years ago. Mayhew can't run and walk even like he once did. So, unless it was a sitting scene, it wasn't Mayhew. It saddens me because seems no matter what they do, how hard they try to please as many fans as possible, some won't be happy. Chewie pretty much seemed as he always did to me. I overanalyze stuff too, but even I didn't go there.

I find it crazy how much whining people do about stuff that doesn't matter.

So the Falcon is more maneuverable in TFA...

in Empire Strikes Back, did people whine as much? Go watch ANH, the scene where they first leave Mos Eisley... Han needs to lose a Star Destroyer while the make the jump to light speed... so he casually veers left.

In Empire Strikes Back when the falcon can suddenly maneuver an astroid field did everyone get all "Oh so now the falcon can move quickly? that doesn't quite fit with what I know of it's previous, limited screen time"

Gads.

yep, I think you're right. Been working on an all new photomatched Falcon, and these have really come in handy.

We all know the old saying... you'll never make everybody happy. I loved TFA. I loved seeing the MF fly again and pulling off all those cool maneuvers. I'm one of the happy ones.

OH... Great job SS ;)

yep, I'm a fan too. No interest in people moaning about this one. Sure it's clunky, but it has its moments, and most of them involve the Falcon, so I'm happy as a pig in #@$. I understand if folks don't want to get burned like last time, but give it a rest. It was fun. It was definitely better than any of the last three. And it's just the beginning.
