EP VII Millennium Falcon

From what I understand they actually built a 1:1 Falcon complete with interior for Disney and filming. I could be wrong on that, but I would love to see it!

Rumor has it that the original quad station, cockpit and few other pieces have survived after Jedi. I chatted with a gentleman whose friend knows Lorne Peterson. During an exclusive tour of the archives back in the early / mid 90s, Peterson allowed a few photos taken of folks standing next to the cockpit. Whether it's the same one or Disney picked and pulled parts from and moved over to a new one???? I don't know.

I think they built several versions. The one of the moving rig has GOT to be all new!

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!! They are really pulling out all the stops for this movie! Looks like the MF is going to be seen and heard from all angles! I LIKE IT!
Did you see the latest tv spot that was issued in the last few days , falcon shown flying in three environments ......this is our wet dream.....I didn't want to link here in case of anyone avoiding trailers

Do you realize how nice it would have been if you had the resources and manpower to finish your cockpit... it would have been done by now as well as the entire ship!

Your right , you need to offer free entry to the final built falcon if someone puts solid 40 hours work into it, they get a certificate etc etc, I'd bet you'd be surprised how many would join in, especially local collages with students doing engineering , carpentry, structural engineers ......get materials testing going on numerous greebles, and testing different methods of 3D printing for 1:1 scale environments

That photo of Finn in the gunner's chair is actually an painting or filtered version of the actual photo, they did that with the other books in that series as well. If we have an actual still or photo it would look even better.

Here's a good shot for you guys.

Wow Seeker! Where did you get those pix? Is that how she'll look in the film? Lots has changed. I can see about 75 on that 1 pic! What I don't understand is why she changed all that but didn't replace those badly damaged shields? Seems backwards.

Funny thing... the cockpit itself would have been finished LONG ago had I started with and stayed focused on the ESB version. We would probably be, if we had the space, well into the main hull by now. Maybe not greeblied up, but a def form would have been started. As far as the full scale build itself? That's going to take some serious funding and a large space to bring it to reality.

Oh well... live and learn. :)

The idea, if we ever get that far, is to turn the build/project into a sort of maker's camp. We would allow / want folks to not only visit the project but we could instruct them about electronics, wood working, fiberglass and resin, mold making, working with tools, CNC machines, laser cutter, etc. It would be open to kids of all ages! The best part, the person can then take these skills and apply them toward the build / project. They could participate in building something really special. :)

This project is going to take a LONG time to build. Longer if there is little to no funding. So far everything comes out of pocket so we have to be smart.

I would love to be able to recreate the Hoth Hanger complete with MF, snow speeders and XWings!

Yeah that sounds very cool, if you could attract interest , like I mentioned if you could partner up with secondary schools (high schools) or get sponsorship from 3d printing company , you might get enough interest .Especially after 18 Dec , that's a big gravy train :)

Greg, if you think building the full hull in Dallas / Fort Worth, Texas would work, then we can build it in my 7000 sq foot hangar. It would look right at home along side the X-34 Landspeeder and the T-47 Snowspeeder. http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=232411 The hangar's inside walls and ceiling are already white and it does look quite a bit like the iced carved walls of Echo base.

Hi guys, I found this picture in an article by Wired and made me think of this thread. You can see the amazing ammount of Detail on th 1:1 model/set. Wouldn't it be great if they build it 1:1 to keep it for the park later? when I heard of the life-size Millenium Falcon, this is how I envision that project to look like in the end. Cheers!!

You've got me intrigued! :)

I see you making a giant wall of styro to look at outside your MF cockpit, which when 'flipped' shows hyperspace....
