Might be a dumb idea and probably not cost effective but towards the end of STTMP the crew literally walk off of the tip of the saucer section onto V'ger as the saucer edge is kinda docked with it. They could have made a removable stand alone support to replicate a piece of the V'ger ship to hold up the front of the saucer section, which at least would have been in keeping with the movie. Just a thought.

On the UK release subscription, I contacted TOMY UK about my US subscription and asked what the "selected fans" comment meant and how much later the UK release would be after the US. No comment on either the fans or release date questions but they did say that I could wait until after I had placed my UK order and it was confirmed and they would then arrange for the cancellation of my US order (and I suppose refund).

Sounds like a fan scratchbuild idea.

Some great pics on fb of the factory sample along side the prototype courtesy of Gary Kerr, who seems like a great guy. Looks really nice. Mentioned, as suspected that it can be displayed without the rods, but that Tomy can’t explicitly say it for liability reasons (similar to the TOS)

That’s what I thought at first too, but looking at the studio model, it seems relatively vertical with gentle slope. It’s hard to tell but maybe the polar lights kit is too raked? Also the front of the bridge module has some interesting windows. Wondering if they’re trying to accommodate top registry lighting
You know, having now looked at the new photos posted in the last couple of hours, I think you could be right. There's a much bigger hole just below the bridge than was on the prototype, which could be explained if they're trying to integrate hull lighting.

Yup, he confirmed on fb that the bigger hole below the bridge was an attempt at lighting the top name and registry, but unfortunately did not work. They’re now experimenting with the small strip above the bridge

I REALLY don't want big light openings appearing on the model if they weren't on the original miniature. :(
That would be more of deal breaker than the black support rods to the saucer IMHO. I thought they were aiming to get this as close to the fillming miniature appearance as possible, but putting in additional lighting openings into locations that weren't on the FX model is a big no-no to me.

I believe the big light opening is nixed due to it being unsuccessful. They’re experimenting with the small light slit above it now (that was part of the filming miniature)

Honestly, they should not have even bothered trying to do it in the first place if it meant introducing a big light opening that isn't on the original filming miniature. Keep it pure please TOMY!

For anyone interested who hasn't seen it yet the TOMY UK Facebook page states that the UK release shipping date is expected to be Jan-Feb 2026. Might not be a bad thing as plenty of feedback should be available on the model after its US/Canada release in September.

So another 4 - 5 months? That's a long time.

Hmm. Am I willing to wait that long, that is the question. It's true that feedback will be available, but I very seriously doubt they'd make any alterations after the first batch are made.

I doubt that any alterations will be made either, but if there were any quality issues the US buyers identify it would give us the chance to reconsider if necessary.

After thinking about it, I think I will wait. Getting each one to the UK almost doubles the price, and that alone is worth the extra time for me. The ease of being able to return a defective one is also a major bonus, as I was a bit concerned about that.

And yes, in the event that there is some catastrophic flaw then we can back out, although I don't anticipate one.
