Enterprise Refit -signup.tomy.com

Cool, thanks for the update. I think I'm going to wait until I have confirmation that I've placed a UK order before risking cancelling my US one, just in case.

I’ve had a Polar Light refit that was gifted to me in my closet for almost two decades. Decided the break it out and get the shuttle craft ready. I forgot how much I hate water decals!

Toothpick for scale :)

I wonder how the newly announced tariffs are going to affect this model? I am not in the US. I am in a country with 20% tariff currently. I have an option to order from the UK on April 15th as I have an address there, but would need to cancel the US order with Tomy. I am pretty undecided.

Already been paid for, so it shouldn't be affected?

I saw a post from Tomy on their Facebook group for the US campaign that there won't be any additional charges as it's been paid for. Not sure if they'll be an impact for the UK campaign which opens in a couple of weeks though!

You know…I’ve always wondered why NONE of the refit kits, or full builds like the Tomy, have included the Saucer EVA Ports, which were a great detail seen only in TMP:

This is probably a stretch considering that it’s not at the usual placement on the hull but wondering if the circled dark areas are exploratory tests to implement those hatches?

Well, the Saucer EVA Port “covers” are always present (seen here on the Polar Lights 350 Refit):

It would be a great detail to have the cover be removable to expose the actual lighted EVA port and give the Refit a unique TMP look.

Of course, the doors on the Saucer EVA Port appear to be “closed” when the ship is in “flight mode” (the Enterprise is preparing to leave dry dock, here):

We may not be charged any more, but the prospects for any future models are going down the toilet. Even if they do decide to make any more, the days of them being affordable are gone, at least for our friends in the US. Hopefully Tomy continue to offer direct sales in the UK and elsewhere as a way around this.

Has anyone heard about the TomyPlus UK website launch? The website doesn't seem to be working yet so I'm wondering if they're going to "switch it on" on April 15 when they launch the UK refit. I'm not on facebook so apologies if they've already clarified what's going to happen.

Eh.

Maybe so maybe so. The two that really mattered ( to me anyways) have been made so no big deal for me. A TOS Klingon. Cruiser would have been but I'm not losing sleep over it. It would have been the only other one and maybe a TOS Romulan War bird or TMP Klingon Cruiser. Other than that they are just too big for me to have half a dozen of ..lol

Yeah I'm going to order (again) too, then once it's all paid for and confirmed I'll cancel my US order. Kind of a bummer to have to wait an extra four months, but it'll save a lot of money so that makes it worthwhile.

Will it save a lot of money? £699 is a pretty penny. I’m sticking with my original order I think. To be shipped to Japan. I have an address in UK but probably more expensive shipping it from the UK.

So, Tomy UK are aiming to sell 500 units over the next 25 days. Be interesting to see how it goes.

Re USA: Sorry to keep harping on about this, but despite what Tony say. How do 145% tariffs work from China? I doubt they are exempt because orders are already paid for. Surely, whatever enters US ports in October/November gets hit with whatever tariff is active. How can Tomy absorb that?

I think it will end up saving us Brits some money because not only would the shipping be expensive buying from the US (because we'd need to find a forwarding shipper or friend who is able to receive it from TOMY, then ship it to us in the UK) and there would also be expensive import duties and tax due to declaring the full value on the shipping paperwork. Having got stung with HUGE import fees on Prime 1 Studio and JND Studios statues, I'm happy to avoid all of that importing headache.

Honestly, the toy company has to make their bottom line margin. The outcome might be that they claw back the margin via reduced paint apps or lighting effects. If their margin has been slashed in half or even 3/4, I don’t see how it doesn’t filter down to the final product products. I really hope not as the refit is my life holy grail lol. At the very least there might be not so insignificant delays as they’re trying to predict the final outcome of the tariffs. I for one would be willing to pay a little extra if it cancelled out the tariff effect and resulted in an amazing product; not fair but this situation was unpredictable

Surprised they didn't hit their uk goal on day one.

Based on "fan" response to seams and screwholes on the TOS, TOMY should prepare for dozens of 50-something software engineers to converge on the outlet store, douse themselves in gasoline and reach for their zippos should they quietly assess a $149 Trump tax come Halloween.
