Enterprise Refit -signup.tomy.com

Surprised they didn't hit their uk goal on day one.

Based on "fan" response to seams and screwholes on the TOS, TOMY should prepare for dozens of 50-something software engineers to converge on the outlet store, douse themselves in gasoline and reach for their zippos should they quietly assess a $149 Trump tax come Halloween.
Note the lack of saucer supports...

Touche.

Does the uk version get to your door cheaper? With the crushing exchange rate I tend to doubt it.
For those of us in the UK yes it does even with the current exchange rate. Shipping of something of this size from the US to the UK will be around $400. When this hits the UK shores, UK customs duties will add 20% of the total INCLUDING shipping costs so another $220 (based on $699 + $400 x 20%) plus import duty due to the high price which is variable but could be 10% so another $110 plus a $15 handling fee. So total shipping and duties would be in the region of $750. Most people signing up for the US subscription already knew that they would effectively be paying for the cost of two of the models to get one home so switching to the UK release even at the higher initial price and current exchange rate is a no brainer.

I bought in the UK. I passed on the US sale, the shipping was going to be a headache and an expensive one at that.

As for the 500 target, there does not appear to be a consequence if that is not reached. As in, the model was fully funded and was already in production. These are just extra units. I think it'll hit the figure anyway, think I'm #404. And there is a decent chunk of time remaining.

Some other thoughts, diecast is what Tomy do. I hear the call for other materials but diecast is their business, it's what they know and it's a differentiator. The supports are not that bad.

As for what's next. The D is a cert at some point. I really hope they don't opt for a Klingon/Romulan vessel next. I could be wrong of course but I don't see those shifting anywhere near the same number of units, I'd worry that would be detrimental to the line.

I'd take the Reliant. That would be something special.

Will it save a lot of money? £699 is a pretty penny. I’m sticking with my original order I think. To be shipped to Japan. I have an address in UK but probably more expensive shipping it from the UK.

So, Tomy UK are aiming to sell 500 units over the next 25 days. Be interesting to see how it goes.

Re USA: Sorry to keep harping on about this, but despite what Tony say. How do 145% tariffs work from China? I doubt they are exempt because orders are already paid for. Surely, whatever enters US ports in October/November gets hit with whatever tariff is active. How can Tomy absorb that?

Others have already answered, but the answer is a resounding yes, it'll save a significant amount. The last time with the TOS Enterprise I ended up almost doubling the price of the model to get it here to the UK.

I emailed Tomy earlier in the week and they said they'll be going ahead with all UK orders whether they reach the UK target or not, so that's reassuring.

That's what I figured with the UK sales. The number is pretty irrelevant.

Do Tomy only post info on Facebook? I can't stand that platform and I'm keen to keep up with development though it seems like they're haven't been many updates lately?

As far as I know they do only post on Facebook, and I agree that it's very annoying. I refuse to use that site, so rely on people posting info here a lot of the time. You're right that they have barely said anything with this model since it was greenlit (I think...).

Seems like a strange choice but I guess it has the largest reach.

As long as they're busy beavering away with the model I'm ok for now. Can't wait to see the final production model. Do we have any idea what a reasonable timeframe to see that would be?

As far as I remember they entered full protection three months before release last time, so I'd hope to see some final images and details by August at the latest. Of course, it ended up being delayed last time, but hopefully that doesn't happen again.

New update on fb. The iridescence looks amazing and the really improved the nacelles. This might be the modeling deal of the century lol

You're right, that's a new model. It looks like a big improvement on the original prototype too.

Excitement building.
Totally. I’ve never seen iridescence on a die cast piece before so I was cautiously optimistic on how it would look. It looks really great. Their research on the colors and Aztec patterns and strongback really shows. This will be a piece for the ages honestly

It is looking stunning. The nacelle light diffusion is a box ticked many had on their mind. I’m impressed with the Aztecing too.

The arboretum has me curious now, would love to see some foliage but who knows…

Those new photos are beautiful, thanks for sharing them.

The nacelles are looking much, much better now, and the paint job looks gorgeous. Cancelled my US order and placed a new UK order a couple of days ago, so the longer wait is going to be painful, but it looks like it'll be well worth it.

Still strongly dislike the saucer supports, but hopefully the neck won't flex without them.

I’d say they’ve blasted past the UK goal now with hours to go. I’m guessing the timely update may have pushed some buyers over the edge. Nice to know the refit will be adorning homes both sides of the pond.
