Enterprise Refit -signup.tomy.com

Great news about the UK! Hope this is confirmed as true. I'll definitely go for that too because with import fees/tax and reshipping from the US that'll be much cheaper than importing it. Having it in the UK will also eliminate any problems with returns if the model is damaged.

TOMYUK put the announcement on their instagram page. Opening in April. I emailed Tomyplus.com and they said they'd spoken with the team and confirmed that they could cancel my order so I can place a new order for the UK version when it's open.

As stated, it's confirmed on the TOMYUK instagram page (and no doubt facebook too, but I'm not on facebook so just saw it on instagram).

Yep it's on their Facebook page.

I've emailed them back to find out what it actually means by "Waitlist". I'm hoping it doesn't mean that should any US customers cancel, we'll be given the chance to order it based on our position on the waitlist. Would be good if they can clarify a bit more info about it before a lot of UK customers cancel only to find that there will be a very limited number made available in the UK.

I have also emailed them asking if they anticipate the model being released in the UK at the same time as the US/Canada release or whether it will be later. I will update when I receive their reply.

March 2025 Star Trek Update:

Hi everyone!

We have a lot of exciting news this month!! You may have seen online that the 1:350 ... NCC-1701 from ™: ℎ will be available for pre-order in the UK only on April 15th. During the 2024 campaign we could not offer the same opportunity to Star Trek fans in the UK, but thanks to all your support and success in the campaigns, we can now give selected fans the chance to join the campaign and get their hands on this amazing replica

As for production, we are currently at the start of the debugging stage, having already received and reviewed the first shot samples with Gary Kerr, Karl Tate, Glen Swanson, and Matt Cushman.

We do have an update regarding the supports and they will be needed on the replica due to the weight of the diecast metal. The supports will be black, made of steel, and are attached separately.

As mentioned in our last update, we did meet with Gary Kerr to review the sample and we did receive feedback we are continuing to work on. He did say it is a “Beautiful Piece of Art” and was very excited!

Below are pictures of our first shot sample. Please note this sample does not include the paint, deco, or electronics.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email tomyplus@tomy.com, or call 800-704-8697 Monday-Friday from 8:00AM to 4:00PM US-Central Time.

I wonder what "selected fans" means regarding being given the opportunity to own it? Maybe I'll keep my US order open until they make this a bit clearer for UK customers to know what to do. I'd hate to cancel my US order and then also miss out on the UK order due to not being "selected". Tomy did reply to my email stating that US customers will receive their Enterprise's before UK customers, but they didn't give any idea on how much longer we'd need to wait in the UK.

I really hope the "needed supports" are like the TOS Enterprise. It did not need them and mine was fine without them. Those black supports look like crap. If they could do it with the TOS Enterprise, they should be able to do it with Refit.

They need to FIX THIS if they want to make these for years. (n)(n)(n)(n)(n):sick::sick::sick::sick::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Make a better base as well. Looks like a cheap toy base:(:(:(:(:(:(:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Wow these first shots look really good! Looks like they’ve corrected the shape of the base of the warp pylons. Can’t really tell about the seam around the bridge but this is a cool update!

Those black steel supports are very distracting. Surely they could use some sort of clear material instead. Still not ideal, but at least is might look better.

Finally a real update!!!

The UK news is really, really great because it's going to save those of here a fortune. The cost of getting the TOS Enterprise to me almost doubled the original cost last time, I've ordered two Refits (I have a problem...) and had set aside an extra £1000 to cover the shipping and import costs, so now I know I can burn that on MORE REFITS, which is great news. Just kidding, I only bought another one a few weeks ago so I need to give it a rest for a while...

I'm not the least bit surprised about the stand supports. The weight of the saucer is immense and it will warp the neck over time, no matter what you do. It may take years, but it will happen eventually, even if only a little bit. The original studio models only used metal for the armature for a few reasons, and weight was one of them. Presumably they'll be removable (I'll be annoyed if they aren't, not least because they're bound to break if they don't pop off), so those who are willing to take the risk should be able to get by without them. I suspect they could solve this problem once and for all by using an internal metal neck frame made of a metal that's much stronger, but presumably that would take them over the budget.

I'm just glad they haven't repeated the hideous stand from last time. I'm curious to know what the top end of those supports looks like, I hope it's made of something very soft indeed, or it'll mark the model itself in time. The stand itself is quite plain, but it seems fine.

The model is looking beautiful anyway, hopefully they can keep those saucer seams to a minimum, but that's the only real flaw I see in those new shots, and it looks quite minor.

Totally agree with you about weight of the saucer. I’ve displayed my TOS at times without the support, and while it seems ok, it seems like the neck or base of the neck/connection point of the secondary hull would possibly fatigue over time. Heck there’s even a person here that already has some sag in the nacelles that may or may not be attributed to the weight.

I think they had to include a support to ensure its durability. I’m wondering if they used steel rods because of the strength vs acrylic over time (not sure how strong acrylic is). A fb comment by Tomy+ mentioned that the steel arms are removable however; this might satisfy some, but it would come at a risk. Another solution would be to have a “cup” supported by a rod on the lower sensor dome, but that might impact the lower registry saucer lighting.

Or make it out of plastic with a steel skeleton like someone used to offer for Polar Lights models.

I don't care about Die Cast. It looks no different on the shelf. I just want an awesome Refit model and that does not include ugly supports.

Yeah, to be honest this would be my ideal solution too. I don't care about die cast either, I'd much rather they made it from a steal skeleton with a plastic (or equivalent) outer shell. The die cast nature of these huge models seems to cause more problems than it solves.

Exactly.

So Excelsior will have mega supports due to the saucer, long nacelles. Big D. Yeah that will look good with a building under it. Bird Of Prey. Maybe with a little nest to support it.

Very disappointing.

Oh no! Out of curiosity is it the base of the nacelle that’s come loose/plastic piece flexing over time, or is it the base of the pylon beginning to angle backwards?

Really glad to see a detailed update, so far, the sample is looking great, nice to see the Surak shuttle too.

I’m pretty disappointed in the need for supports too, although it seems inevitable given the size/weight (the saucer looks huge in front of Kerr).

Good news for UK buyers, I’m an international buyer but alas I’ll have to deal with all the shipping/duties etc.
