Efx X Wing

Agreed - tighter QA on the paintjobs will go a long way - I've seen some falcons that left the house from MR that were criminal... and I've seen some that were truly outstanding... I'd settle for better then average :lol

I'm not that great of a painter, but I muddle through with decent/repectbile paintjobs - if I know I can paint it better there is something seriously wrong :lol

I cant wait to see these when the paint job is finished. I would really consider one if they do a great job.

Any updates Barry, just a little one?. Go on, go on go go on?

I have to say I've gone off the lightsaber collecting since I got more into the studio scale side of things & it would be the one thing I'd buy from them at the moment. Another reason is I'd like to support the company as Amy really looked after me when she was with MR, great people.

Agreed on the paint job. Two things make Star Wars models Star Wars models...the fine detail work, and the pain job. That beaten up, naturally weathered look IS the Star Wars look. If they paint job ain't right, the whole thing looks wrong. I would argue that a superior paint job even makes up for inaccuracies elsewhere. The "look" is what generates that Star Wars feel. Here's hoping it doesn't look like a toy. Nice so far.

Chris, Amy has said over at Rebelscum that the first pics of the painted Red 5 will be shown in the efx trivia thread. Cant wait to see how this will look, no doubt they'll be a lot of opinions. I really hope they make it a good one. Anyone know who is doing the paint master for this?

it would be cool seeing some exclusive Wedge or Biggs edition Xwing with signature. That'd be okay by me. :)

Judging by the talent I've seen displayed here and elsewhere like the Resinatti site, I think if someone wanted custom X-wings, they'd be best off to pay one of the talented X-wing builders to give them a unique rendition of their choice based on one of those Salzo version 3's.

Oh yeah..I bet the PORKINS Edition would just SELL OUT!

Then everyone else would be..

"WHY DIDNT THEY DO RED 5???"

Gimme a break.

Just a question, not a flame, but why Porkins as an example? That has to be the lamest one to even toss out there TBH.
Just pure sarcasm like that is plain narrow minded and smacks of spite and some form of angst.
I would have to say a good rendition of Reds 2 or 3 would be a huge hit, so throwing a Porkins example out there is just very sad!
Sorry Frank, gotta say it as i see it bud!

Angst? Frank is dead right. It's Luke's show. Dramatically, Luke is the only one who matters; the other X-Wings are fillers. They're red shirts. No official license holder is going to make their marquee ship painted up like a tertiary nothing character's, and ignore the hero of the film. That's just marketing suicide. If they sell out every Red 5 X-Wing in 5 minutes, then maybe you'll see others (don't hold your breath), but first up is Red 5, no contest, no debate.

_Mike

Frank is dead on to toss out Porkins as a sarcastic bit of wit Mike?
Sorry dont buy it buddy, but yeah, sure Red 5 will always be the shows market leader in livery....no if's or maybe's.
Just dont see the point in the lame sarcasm, but then i wont hold my breath on that to cease over on this board either!
