EFX 2024 Obi-Wan TPM Legend Edition saber

Since we're on topic of the red button, did the MR TPM Obi get the button knurling correct?

I’ve never seen an MR Obi TPM EE in person, but they didn’t get a whole lot right with that saber. I would be surprised if the knurling was accurate.

Here you go.

Oh wow, thats pretty close the diamonds might be a little too small though. Hard to tell.

If you follow the diamonds along their angle, there should be only two complete diamonds with a partial on top and bottom. It looks like the MR has 3 complete diamonds so probably one size too small since it doesn’t look like the button is too thick.

I actually want to pre-order the LE one (Since, it is the only option available right now/it hasn't sold out yet). But, I am afraid that it will not meet my high expectation. Lol...Just like their Luke ROTJ one. Oh,man...that wide emitter is still gaving me nightmares sometimes. Hahahaha...The fit&feel on that lightsaber is also...I don't know...just feels "cheap" and "un-solid". The weight is also...meh.
This EFX Obi will be 100% constructed from aluminum? No resin at all?
I actually like the weathering look, because it is not too weathered.
  • Additional Interchangeable Components for an Alternate Display Option. You will be able to Display the Lightsaber Either as it was Seen on Screen or how it is Displayed in its Current Archival Condition.
If the body, the pommel, etc are interchangeable, then they will be "hollow" / not a soild chunk of metal/aluminum?

I owned an MR OBI TPM EE before. So, my expectation is definitely so high. Lol...
So, nobody will reply me? Fine. Hahaha

if it’s a LucasFilm backed prop… it’s certainly not as accurate as a fan based prop. I don’t know Anakin Starkiller personally but I do believe he’s put a lot of hours into understanding this prop. More times than not the passion build is always better than the industrial build.

Website says all metal construction for the hilt, no details on the metal that will be used and nothing about how the interchangeable parts will work. I don't have any experience with EFX Props so I can't comment on quality. Hopefully they can give more details on this saber before it releases.

There are plenty of inaccurate fan built replicas. Just being fan built doesn't mean accurate. I'm not commenting about the AS version, but in general about fan builds. Licensed companies having access to the actual items and info from Lucasfilm can be a huge advantage. It depends what they do with the info and what Lucasfilm allows them to do. Sometimes a certain fan build is the most accurate, sometimes a licensed version is.

In this case, it's questionable exactly what the Obi Wan saber at Lucasfilm is. I look at the efx saber as a replica of the Obi Wan saber currently at Lucasfilm. We don't know exactly what it was used for or it's history.

I have purchased the recent efx lightsaber replicas. I have been happy with all of them. I'm not an expert on the accuracy of them, but they look great to me.

I think you have a good point here

Can't speak for the recent EFX replicas as most of them are TV Show sabers that other people than me would be more knowledgeable about. But most MR and EFX replicas from years ago are considered inaccurate by today's standards.

This brings the question, what is the benchmark for accuracy (For PT Saber replicas atleast)? Is it LFL Archival Material/Photos? Is it Propstore Auction Photos? Whatever LFL gives to the companies to replicate? Or just whatever is seen on screen?

I know typically the answer is Screen-Accuracy as in whatever is seen on screen but it's still interesting to me. You have one side that says a Luke V2 replica is definitely the "most screen accurate" as it replicates a prop that is seen throughout the majority of the film (Which would technically be correct), while you also see another side that says a replica of the Hero/V1 is the most accurate because it is based on a LFL Officially Licensed Design even though it only appears in one single shot

I don't think there is a right answer as far as what is best for everyone. Some want warts and all accuracy. Some want idealized.

Unfortunately it sounds like the Obi Wan hero lightsaber from TPM may not exist in the form as seen on in TPM any more. I feel some of the efx material for this replica may mislead people into thinking they had access to the saber as it was seen in TPM. It is a replica based on the saber Lucasfilm currently has, whatever that is.
