EFX 2024 Obi-Wan TPM Legend Edition saber

I will say, it looks like they had the same reference photos Anakin Starkiller and myself had. The grime/glue around the LEDs and at the top of the emitter posts is consistent with the TPM hero.
Please tell me I’m not eating my sock… I didn’t say it was a used sock right? It can be brand new?

… I’m not backing out or anything

Not because they are my friends. But if EFX copied every single little misalignment, every single cut imprefection, and gets the knurling 1000% true on the red button… I’ll eat my sock
LOL. I'd still pick the AS Dewy saber over this one anyways. Those two have so much passion and love put into their design, it just doesn't compare to what a company can provide.

I don't think this sample even has the scribe lines cut into the emitter yet, those buttons could be 3D prints from the scan or temp buttons. I can't tell from these pics or that video. Hopefully people will get some higher res pics of all the windows and buttons.

Since they got to scan the saber they at least have the actual real measurements. I don't have the picture but I remember one of the owk, qgj, and maul saber on table at the ranch I believe and this weathering matches that saber if my memory is correct.

I’m very skeptical that they got to scan the actual hero saber. I don’t believe it is in the archives anymore. I think they scanned a resin stunt, and had the non-public high resolution reference photos.

here is a little screen cap of the red cap from the video. Interesting the red button in the gold knob.

I'm not expecting them to get the wonkyness/imperfections of the original but other things like the red button, bezels and the gold knob with the right insert they should 100% need to get correct.

It should come as a surprise to no one that this saber is an obsession of mine. I have had an anxious, but excited feeling all day. Mostly at the prospect that maybe, just maybe, the original TPM hero prop is still in the archives and that we might eventually get some more information about it.

Having said all that, I’m almost certain they referenced the saber in the picture below. The mystery saber which we’ve discussed in a couple threads before. It was displayed at Skywalker Ranch for a brief time when Episode 1 was released in 3D. I think it is an early salt shaker without the actual salt shaker emitter. I can conclusively say this is NOT the original TPM hero. Amongst other differences, notice how the emitter posts on this saber and the eFX replica continue under the emitter bezel? The original hero TPM was not like this. On the original, the emitter posts ended just short of the emitter bezel leaving a slight gap. A detail Starkiller and myself faithfully replicated.

The weathering somewhat matches, it could explain the red button knurling, the red LED in the brass knob, and a couple other nuances I’m seeing with the prototype.

I knew I didn't hallucinate that picture, that is what I was thinking they scanned also.

Rewatching the video he says the weathering matches exactly the saber they scanned at the lucasfilm archive. Does it really though?

It's notable that EFX's display merely states "Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber Prototype" and not mention TPM or any episode. It seems like folks at EFX is aware that their reference is not a Obi TPM hilt.
