DRIVE (2011) Scorpion Satin Jacket

Has anyone received their jacket from Indy???

Only saw the few pics of the jacket on his site which was a bit large and didn't show it in its best possible light.

I know that there were a few people ordering from him. Let's see em!!

Dan
Hands down Indy's jacket will be the best for dollar. He is a well established tailor for quality and precision.

I can't remember seeing it mentioned, but the other dockers the Driver wears are the k-1 in charcoal.

Does anybody know who manufactured the chambray?

I just received a Merz henley in the mail today. I think it is the closest to the driver's you can get, especially if you want the ribbing on the arms to match.

I bought the 103, the 20's style. It's pretty thin though, so it's definitely more undershirt than t-shirt. I haven't washed it yet. The shirt provides plenty of length for the shrink that will occur, but I'm not sure how tight it will get.

Also, if you're curious, this denim blog shows how the acne max raw jeans look after some wear Fade Friday .

Here are a couple of "flying eagles" we just embroidered:

All I need now is propper whatch! Grrrrr... I think I'll do start my own thread once I've got everything in hand. Who's the ****** that has the SA LA cap on hold?

Hey guys,
I've been following this thread for a bit but decided to add to it myself! I have a bit, so bare with:)

So a little while ago I ordered a drive jacket from ebay for around $160. It arrived within 4 weeks however to my surprise it wasnt the "replica Drive jacket" that the seller said it was, it was a knock-off jacket. The jacket isnt that well made and there are many dissimilarities between the real thing and this. Afterwards I purchased the real deal from a partner website with Steady Clothing for around the same price.
The moral of the story is do your homework and don't settle for what looks good right away or what is available right away.
p.s. this ripoff jacket is much more similar to the magnoli jacket.

I'll post some pictures of it, so you get a sense of the differences.

For the people trying to decide between the Steady Clothing jacket and the Magnoli jacket*!:::
I have a friend who owns the a very similar jacket to the magnoli drive jacket and was pissed when I told him I only spent $150 on mine and he spent well over $300 for his and after looking at mine decided to return his for a Steady jacket, no joke. I checked the jacket out and I have to say I like the Steady jacket way more. It's much more light-weight with the thinner woven ribbing which helps when its 30 degrees celsius out and you have shirt underneath, or even a denim jacket!
I also like the consistency of the ribbing on the Steady jacket and that its underneath the arms as well to help with ventilation for those intense car chases.
The scorpion is arguably the main feature of this jacket. I prefer to have the colours of it match those in the film. The magnoli jacket is a similar scorpion shape, although the shading is a bit too dark and obvious.
The collar button, while not in the film jacket, makes it a whole lot more functional and how a Korean racing jacket should be.
The insides of the jackets are pretty similar although the magnoli jacket has a bunch of pockets which the original drive jacket does not have.
The back of the magnoli jacket looks kinda big and bulky, and when my friend tried it on it it retained its square-ish shape in the back, while everywhere else looked ok. The scorpion also seems smaller on the magnoli jacket.
Overall its really about price. If you have almost $400 to throw around then you can buy the magnoli jacket, which in my opinion, and I've seen both the magnoli and steady versions, isnt better at all. If your going to charge that much you might as well throw in a Patek Phillipe watch as well!
The Steady jacket does not have the stitching over the scorpion but on my friends magnoli jacket that is where the threads were coming loose anyways, and in my opinion the stitching doesn't matter, people need to stop complaining and being so picky. Steady has done the best they could and I think their product is spectacular, I highly recommend it.
The official "Drive" logo on the inside of the jacket also just looks awesome.
Think about this: in 5-10 years most people will have forgotten about all these details of their 'Drive wardrobe' and all the hundreds and hundreds of dollars spent on sunglasses and jeans. If your going to spend over $300 for a pair of sunglasses, I think you need to re-evaluate your life.

A few months ago I was at a second hand store and came across this Levi's jacket: http://www.flickr.com/photos/85190638@N07/7812133650/in/photostream
I bought it because I liked it, but its also identical to the one in Drive except the side pockets, which I like way better. It also fits like a glove almost like a well fitted denim shirt, so wearing my medium Drive jacket over it fits and looks great. Best of all it only cost me $7.00!

As well, like everyone else who wants to replicate this costume was finding it impossible to track down any Taupe Stacy Adams Madison boots. However I did find these boots: Faux Leather Boots | 21 MEN - 2011408036
and was able to spray them with a taupe-like color and shine coating, as well as paint the outsole black, and I must say they look pretty good and didn't cost over $100. They have a great worn look minus the blood like in the film. They also have a side zipper which is great for getting them on and off in a second.

I'm thinking of getting different color laces so they match the boots.

Food for thought:The colours of Goslings wardrobe in Drive were meticulously thought out by Gosling and Erin Benach the costume designer, so I would say for a more accurate outfit and costume go with the colours they designed for the character and the film. I don't think they were intending to make an ad for companies like Levi's or Stacy Adams.

An alternative to the acne jeans might be the nudie dry brown selvage jeans. They come in both a straight leg (average joe) and slim fit (grim tim), good if you don't like skinny jeans.

Im thinking of getting the Gaspar driving gloves. I already have a different pair of driving gloves but I've been using them for a while and are they are showing it. Just wondering what the better colour is, English tan or London tan? I'm thinking the English tan.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vjMphKbVz...tgADo/s1600/Ryan-gosling-drive-sunglasses.jpg - Clearly the english tan gloves. It seems Gosling wore the english tan more than the london tan in the film.

Also, is it just me or do the white Stacy Adams boots look outright pretentious on some people in jeans?
It reminds me of a 70's disco party gone wrong. I think any other colour would be much more like Driver.

Someone is going to mention this, so it might as well be me. You're posting on a replica prop forum. Tossing generalisations around about what things people like spending their hard earned money to own a exact replica of is a bit rich. Just a friendly reminder of the type of environment you're posting on

- Someone who has spent thousands of pounds on various props and replicas.

Also...white boots are boss.

@Eliahman

Dude, don't get pissy because you can't justify how others choose to spend their own money. If you don't get the drive or motivation behind the desire to recreate or recapture something from their favourite films, then you need to re-evaluate your presence on this forum. Maybe this isn't the place for you. I happen to have actually bought a pair of Money 2s and I'm glad I did, they're sensational! I'd rather spend the money for quality made glasses than waste it on cheap plastic crap. Better that than another pair of oakley's, which are getting pricey themselves, some models are actually more than what I paid.

In other news: I just won an auction for genuine NOS mens henley Ts, just like Gosling wore in the flick. Now all I need now are the Stacy Adams' boots and replica Patek watch. I won three so I might let on go so I can buy them kicks. I'll keep you posted guys!
