Hey guys,
I've been following this thread for a bit but decided to add to it myself! I have a bit, so bare with
So a little while ago I ordered a drive jacket from ebay for around $160. It arrived within 4 weeks however to my surprise it wasnt the "replica Drive jacket" that the seller said it was, it was a knock-off jacket. The jacket isnt that well made and there are many dissimilarities between the real thing and this. Afterwards I purchased the real deal from a partner website with Steady Clothing for around the same price.
The moral of the story is do your homework and don't settle for what looks good right away or what is available right away.
p.s. this ripoff jacket is much more similar to the magnoli jacket.
I'll post some pictures of it, so you get a sense of the differences.

For the people trying to decide between the Steady Clothing jacket and the Magnoli jacket*!:::
I have a friend who owns the a very similar jacket to the magnoli drive jacket and was pissed when I told him I only spent $150 on mine and he spent well over $300 for his and after looking at mine decided to return his for a Steady jacket, no joke. I checked the jacket out and I have to say I like the Steady jacket way more. It's much more light-weight with the thinner woven ribbing which helps when its 30 degrees celsius out and you have shirt underneath, or even a denim jacket!
I also like the consistency of the ribbing on the Steady jacket and that its underneath the arms as well to help with ventilation for those intense car chases.
The scorpion is arguably the main feature of this jacket. I prefer to have the colours of it match those in the film. The magnoli jacket is a similar scorpion shape, although the shading is a bit too dark and obvious.
The collar button, while not in the film jacket, makes it a whole lot more functional and how a Korean racing jacket should be.
The insides of the jackets are pretty similar although the magnoli jacket has a bunch of pockets which the original drive jacket does not have.
The back of the magnoli jacket looks kinda big and bulky, and when my friend tried it on it it retained its square-ish shape in the back, while everywhere else looked ok. The scorpion also seems smaller on the magnoli jacket.
Overall its really about price. If you have almost $400 to throw around then you can buy the magnoli jacket, which in my opinion, and I've seen both the magnoli and steady versions, isnt better at all. If your going to charge that much you might as well throw in a Patek Phillipe watch as well!
The Steady jacket does not have the stitching over the scorpion but on my friends magnoli jacket that is where the threads were coming loose anyways, and in my opinion the stitching doesn't matter, people need to stop complaining and being so picky. Steady has done the best they could and I think their product is spectacular, I highly recommend it.
The official "Drive" logo on the inside of the jacket also just looks awesome.
Think about this: in 5-10 years most people will have forgotten about all these details of their 'Drive wardrobe' and all the hundreds and hundreds of dollars spent on sunglasses and jeans. If your going to spend over $300 for a pair of sunglasses, I think you need to re-evaluate your life.
A few months ago I was at a second hand store and came across this Levi's jacket:

I bought it because I liked it, but its also identical to the one in Drive except the side pockets, which I like way better. It also fits like a glove almost like a well fitted denim shirt, so wearing my medium Drive jacket over it fits and looks great. Best of all it only cost me $7.00!
