DEC ANH Hero Blaster Kit Builds

The orders are coming in slow, remember there is not much time left!
ordering stops when manufacturing starts

I ordered the Uramex one, I won't be using the long clip i'll be a cap to cover the bottom of the mag so I can ad a sound board later on. There looks to be enough room to use flat head bolt to hold the side rail on. For the cast kit, is everything cast or are there some aluminum items?

If you epoxy the washers and crossbar on then you can go with the one that doesn't come apart,
I think the magazine is an issue though, it won't look right

I was in on the first 'Cast' run .. but I can't help myself from upgrading the scope to the steel version :) Order placed.

Can someone here help me out? I am trying to begin construction on my ANH rig, and I have my Denix in hand, but I don't know how long to make the barrel portion of the holster. Can someone take a measurement from their DEC converted pistol from the back of the hammer to the tip of the flash hider? I would really appreciate it. I know that it will vary slightly depending on how I have my bull barrel sitting, I just need an approximate length of a fully converted pistol.

The only parts that are cast are the mount, grill, track, and knob. Everything else is machined aluminum

Just wanted to give this a bump because I'm working on mine right now and can't tell you how helpful following this thread has been. I will post progress pics of my blaster soon but I'm sure it won't be anything new to what's already been posted.

However! Here's a tidbit for future reference and fools like me alike: doing the bag trick that Scottjua did with the cast flash-hider doesn't work as well when it's with aluminium and aluminium black.:lol I got curious to see if that would work and that experiment was a resounding "no".

nope... aluminum is harder to chemical treat for sure. It takes WAYYYY more patience and diligence.

It does work. It just takes much longer. I found heating my scope between applications helped. I sanded my scope with fine sand paper then would heat it over my gas stove and apply using a rag. At first it seems like it is doing nothing, but eventually, very slowly, it turns. I found leaving for a while and coming back to it, for some reason or another, seamed to help. But after a 100 or so passes with a combination of the aluminum blue and super blue it worked. I have a scope that is very black.

Yeah, I didn't have the patience for that and just sanded/buffed mine down with some fine sandpaper and steel wool and applied the bluing. It's to a place where I like it but it isn't super-black.

The pewter cast parts, however, were a nightmare. I don't think anyone had as much trouble as I did with them. I had to re-do them twice before it began to take the Super Blue and even then it reached a point where it stopped accepting the chemical and just rotted the surface. The mount was the worst for me. It came out a very tarnished-oxide, steel color the first time I did it and, after sanding it back down and buffing it again, it reached a point where it blued much darker than the first time but, again, stopped taking the Super Blue.

I'm working on the brass scope rings, now. Will be dry-fitting all these things in a bit to show it off before the grips come in (which, I'm hoping, is today).

Anyone see the new poster for Episode 7? It looks like "The Force Awakens" has a familiar Han Solo blaster architecture. I was looking forward to a new design though. :cry

Other users have pointed out that it is based on an M712 Mauser, not a C96. That's a difference ... kind of.
