Deagostini Falcon. Anyone seen this?

Some pictures of the rectenna dish from issue 72

Need to get those blast marks fixed this weekend, they look awful!!!

Pictures of the fit of the removable section of plating for Kokkari. I would second Paplooo's comments on the fit - it is indeed good and I am sure that it will look even better after the hull is painted.

Dish looks pretty good
Had a result with Deagostini this morning, they've missed 3 issues from my subscription, numbers 43, 44 and 46 which obviously I need to complete the underside. Third time I've rang customer care about this plus emailed them. They are going to send them with my next delivery and not charge me for them.
Result. :-D

Actually the dish itself looks very unsatisfying to me. The details are more defined than on the original model and the centre Saturn V part is either too small or the four lumps on it are too big. There is also no "lip" on the inside of the dish as there is on the Plastruct dome that was used on the original.

This looks like another job for Tony.

Got TonyRR's fans and fan grills from Shapeways today. This pic is before cleaning. The grill has remarkable detail and also 3 dimensional depth, unlike PE. I have been a PE fan for so long I hesitated to buy the grills but after holding them in my hand and seeing the quality, I am glad that I purchased the printed grills instead of waiting for the PE to come out. This time I think the PE can't compete.

Would love to see photos of this when it's on the bird. How fragile is the thinly printed 3d material? Are you at all worried about its durability?

Surprisingly the frosted ultra detail is extremely durable. Although it is a little brittle like PLA, where it is being used is not a location where any pressure or load is being exerted on it. I have zero concerns about using it other than it can only be super glued in place, and I like using MEK to weld everything together once I have fitted each piece. The grills came super clean so they are ready to prime, the fans still have a little wax residue on them and will have to go in the ultra sonic cleaner with H2O and alcohol for 30-40 min at 140F, to get them ready for primer.

I am waiting for Issues 69-72 before I start assembling any of the top, I will post pictures once it is in primer.

This is my set of the photoetched vent grilles for the DeAgostini falcon.
It's a near exact copy of the original 1977 KOOLSHADE in scale 1/43 (half scale).
The grill has angeled slats, as you can see.
I'll offer the set on my website in the next time.

I find it interesting no one is talking about this on any of the forums. This mistake is way more glaring then TP 1 and 2 panel plates that everyone was crying about. The dish is a focal point. Kind of reminds me of the old tree in the forest falling parable.
