Deagostini Falcon. Anyone seen this?

All of mine 7 made their way to Toronto fine except one crushed (inside everything was safe&sound) and one lost.

I live in California and I have not had an issue on any of my 8 shipments. I agree the packing of the kit has gotten progressively less protection on the inside. We went from double boxing to single with nothing inside to keep the parts from flying around. Obviously much of this is on the postal service, but if Deago were to add some bubble wrap or other packing material would minimize the damage to the box and keep it from compressing on the kit itself.

I would love a box, I get a bag with four issues in.

to get progressively worse they would need to tip everything into a bucket and hand me that at the door....

But, nothing damaged so far so cant moan or threaten legal action......

As for accuracy? It will be the most accurate falcon I have ever owned, My first ever being a 1979 kenner.

It's worse than that, so far as I can tell. The most vocal and unreasonable of them seem to be rivet counters who have never encountered, let alone assembled a model kit before.

So they have absolutely unrealistic expectations, a complete lack of patience and a massive sense of entitlement.

What I find especially baffling is what they get themselves worked up over - all while ignoring far more obvious inaccuracies in places like the cockpit interior or cargo hold. Yet a few in particular seem to think that as a "replica", it is legally required to be precisely identical to the 32" filming model (down to the scratches and paint spatter), even though such a thing is impossible - especially at the price being charged.

It certainly has some accuracy problems, but nothing that's particularly severe. If nothing else, it provides a great base from which to build it into something greater without having to completely scratchbuild it from the ground up.

But what do I know? I've only been putting model kits together for 35 years. :p

I just read all those idiots on teh MS forum moaning about all this. I don't think they have a clue about any of this and are trying to justify in their own little worlds that this should be perfect and the company for making it is legally responsible for making sure it is so. Personally I think they are just regretting the expense of this and just looking for a way to lash out as if it's not their fault to have a good pity party.

Honestly I feel that this company has gone above and beyond what any other modeling company has done in the past to present a model kit as accurate as this is. Its what we modellers have been wanting since we first started building Star Wars models and have had to suffer thru and repair on our own the undetailed and poorly lacking kits that have been produced so far by Ertl. Sure we understand they were made for kids, but we've always wanted something a bit more accurate to the movies and really wished they would have produced such a kit... well... here it is! Everything we've wanted. Detailed enough to satisfy the collector in us all, yet lacking enough to allow us to customize and accurize on our own to suit our taste... it's a delicate balance and I think DeAgo have acheived that goal to the utmost degree. Are there problems... yes... are they serious... not really... can they be fixed... sure! Is it their responsibility to do so... not really... they are attempting something that has never been done before and I applaud them for it. It's setting a new standard for model building and detail that is unmatched so far! To all of those that have a problem with it... don't buy it, shut up and stay off our forums... because the rest of us really like it!

A huge pack of whingers and rivet counters. If they don't like it put it up on eBay or whatever and sell it to someone who will appreciate it. I picked up a second subscription as I was happy with the quality of it. Sure there's areas which could do with finer detailing, and they could have fixed up the cockpit window frame better. That was slack on their behalf, but this is the first time a studio scale Star Wars model has ever been produced right? OFFICIALLY. I'm hoping this MF will be a taster of more stuff to come in the future.

Me too! I would love a bunch of the studio scale models... AT-AT, Snowspeeder, AT-ST, Blockade Runner, Star Destroyer, Slave-1... the list goes on and on!

Well I hope you have a lot of room because the studio scale Blockade Runner was over 6ft and the Empire SD Avenger was over 8ft. LOL

They actually made a 36" inch Star Destroyer first... it was later when Lucas wanted more of an impact that they built a 102" Star Destroyer with all the nice detail and what-not... so a 36" I could see them making! :) Don't believe me... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Destroyer
No need to prove it. I've seen the 36" SD in person. That is why I specified the Empire Avenger in my post. I was just messing around.

I admit the 8 footer is so much more highly detailed, but having one in my home wouldn't be too practical. Where would you put it? That's like awhile back someone suggested a 1:12th scale Falcon and then Hot Toys built one... it wasn't very accurate, but then again it was 18 feet long!

Randy Cooper makes a Beautiful 37" SD. It's his own creation, so it's not exact. I built that kit a couple years ago and it still takes my breath away every time I walk into the room and see it.

Yeah I've seen alot of Randy's work... don't get me wrong, I think he's an awesome artist and has done some beautiful work, but personally for my collections I want something closer to the actual models and not just his interpretations if you know what I mean.

18' Falcon. That's what garages are for.

8' Star Destroyer,...why do you think God created dining rooms. Eat on a small table to the side while staring at it.

I'm pretty sure the ESB Falcon was actually 32". There is reference to it as being smaller not bigger. During production of ESB there is reference of it being called the 2ft Falcon even though it is actually larger.

When they were referring to it as the 'two footer' they were actually referencing the width and not the length, just an FYI ;)
