I love the animations, do you have any directly copied from the original head ?
 
Just out of curiosity, do you really have the video game hearts tattoo on your arm? Real or not, it was a nice touch. People around the net really thought you were Joel.

Nah. I drew all his tattoos on with Sharpie. It's pretty funny because I put them on the opposite arms. Hehehehe...:lol
 
Just out of curiosity a friend of mine wants one of these he asked me two days ago, and wants it no later than October 15th. What am I looking at in material cost.... his budget is $400.00.

Man, I am about to start my deadmau5 head and seeing all this info/ great mau5 heads is so inspiring!!! Truly an amazing thread!

Couple questions for you experienced Mau5 head creators!

1.) Has anyone used this globe? The price seems really nice compared to what I've seen... but theres gotta be some kind of catch haha. Either way, feedback on it would be nice!

2.) I am going for an orange mau5 head (found some cool orange 4 way stretch velvety material... pretty boss!). I was thinking blue eyes with it... If I were to use a black smoked globe for the eyes (can i even purchase a black smoked globe? haha), would the blue still shine through it? If I could I'd like to have black eyes/mouth and still achieve the very bright blue glow effect, if not then will the Blue LEDs luminate white evenly?

Hey so i have a whole plan of what i need to make my DeadMau5 Head BUT! im using acrylic globes (14'' and 4.5'') and im in canada and cant find a single place to find em. other that AMRE supply which prices are insane. If someone has usefull info on where to find in canada can you let me know? (dont say lowes, rona, lighting stores . . . i have checked em all and i need specifics)

I think if you did use smoke globes, it would dull the brightness of the blue lights underneath it. I think the only way you would know for sure is to test it. What you could do is black out part of the eye and have the blue light shining through on the X's that are on the eyes. That's an idea.
 
This is a Youtube video of a deadmau5 head that I made for his show on Labor Day Weekend at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. It was my first attempt at making one.

I know the specs are not exactly right and I know I could have done a better job with the mirrors in the rear of the head, but I was kind of rushed because I wanted to get it done for his show. I finished it the day before the show. I am currently thinking of new ideas for a new one, but haven't decided what I want to do next.
 
That's an awesome head Venturi. Once you get the first one under your belt, all the rest will be easy. I'm just about done with my first head, not as flashy as yours though. I went with the classic red.
 
Venturi! That is a way cool awesome head man! I am so jealous of the flashy flashy lights :) Cool work!!! Is that EL wire? such a cool effect man.

I am actually in the works with mine! I am doing just a basic design for starters. I'll share it here a little later when I have more progress!

What is the best kind of wire to use for the mouth? I went to Lowe's and the wire mesh they had just seemed so flimsy... should it be firm? I have white tights to use... but am stumped on the best kind of wire mesh to use. Any input would be greatly appreciated! I am on the home stretch and thats the last item I need to get! I could have mine done by the weekend :)
