It's been a week since I got this sickness. The pain in our throat was gone. Instead, we lost taste. It's not like when you caught a cold but I can't describe it. So we lost our appetites. My legs are occasionally numb. Just like after sitting straight for a long time. Also, terrible malaise and sleepiness. So I can hardly get out of my bed. Since my wife is working at the food plant, she is ordered to stay home and do her job remotely. Outside is still killing hot so I can't even go out to take a walk. Vicious circle.

It is so curious that 100％ of people here are wearing a mask even when they are in their car or eat at their house but still the count of patients is skyrocketing high. What was the mayhem of the vaccination? Something is very wrong.

My friends, please be careful.

As for the masking/vaccines; since it's an air born virus; there's not much you can do; the infection will present itself with lesser health problems (according to the individual overall health) with a vaccine. Cannot have 100% protection in this life. Stay positive Katsu-san!
 
My mom had it twice, she almost wound up in the hospital the second time when her oxygen levels dropped really low
She lives in a retirement community and spends lots of time at the clubhouse playing cards and board games.
and of course there were a few "outbreaks" in the development originating from there

She is still trying to recover months later from the malaise and sleepiness. She gets tired just walking out to get the mail even though she used to walk a few miles a day before she had it

Similar to you, she lost her taste and because of no taste, lost her appetite

She had the initial vaccine plus one booster.
However, she also has some blood clotting issues and gets deathly ill from the flu so she is one of the high risk people

My dad lives in the house with her, and he never got it. He had the vaccine and two boosters, but he also rarely gets colds or things like that

Supposedly what doctors are saying is that while the vaccine helps, it also may not prevent you from getting it, but if you do get it, you won't wind up getting as bad. Who knows?

On the flip side, a friend who had it only had minor symptoms for a day or so

It effects everyone differently.

Hopefully you won't get stuck with lingering effects. Sounds like you are over the worst part
 
To our fortunate, none of us had any pre-existence disease. So, Yuki got recovered completely and started her daily life. She went down to Tokyo and met her sister Miki and enjoyed sushi. That's good.
My wife and I are still struggling with dullness. But, thanks your advice and information made us decide that we think we are not going to mind it. Just do our routine every day. The appetite is getting recovered. Yesterday, I cooked a couple of lamb chops for dinner. They were settled down in my stomach nicely. I had a glass of wine with it. It was still a bit weird but not bad.

Our fortunate. The true fortunate for us is I got good friends to trust out there who have been sharing not only our little hobby but a piece of our life.
 
Covid definitely seems to effect older people a bit harder.
Parents got it last year, and even now, my Dad's memory has gotten worst, and he always had a perfect sharp memory and was extremely good at things like math. He's about to turn 76 next month, so theres that as well, but covid seemed to speed things up. Its been scaring my Mom.
These last 2 years with covid have been quite strange for everyone here on earth.
 
Scary indeed and endemic, which people seem to forget because they want to move on (and I cannot blame them), so it changes form but doesn't leave for a long, long time.
The situation primarily taught me and my loved ones to seek eachother's company and enjoy and appreciate it even more. There's so much going on in the world right now and times are uncertain in general, so seize the day and cherish what and who you have for as long as it/they last. That's all you can do really
 
Indeed, covid is rather painful for older people. I almost stayed home last 3 years. So, very rare I was in a public space. My wife is working at an office in a food factory. So, the strict measure of sanitation is nothing special for her. My daughter is working at her workshop in our house. She can do her business almost online thru the internet.
Oh, yes, we are OK. But, how about the child and youth attending school? They have to wear masks when they are in their class. For 3 years. They don't see the faces of their friends. Maybe they would not remember their friend's face after their graduation. Their school trip has been all canceled. No swimming class. No student festival. They lost their 3 years in high school or junior high. What a miserable generation.
 
Glad you are doing better! My grandpa, sister, mom, nephew and myself got it in fall of 2020. My grandpa was 97 then and had pneumonia as well, but just shrugged it off like it was nothing! He and my sister had a couple breathing treatments, but the rest of us just felt like a cold/flu. My mom still has trouble with her sense of taste though, so I think it affects older people more. I'm hoping we will see a breakthrough that will do more than the current vaccines so we can get over this thing! I had heard the U.S. military was working on a vaccine that was a lot more effective across current and future strains, so we'll see.

I have a friend who is a teacher. Last year for the second half of the school year they lifted the masking mandate and most kids had never seen their teachers face without a mask. Likewise it was the first time most teachers got to see their kids faces as well.

Definitely a weird thing

I feel bad for my daughters generation because they were already somewhat socially awkward due to having their head buried in their phones and personal devices. Then add two years of hiding behind masks and at least a year or year and a half of schooling from home.

I wonder what the long term effects of that isolation and lack of much social interaction apart from chats will be for that generation

They really have an uphill battle

It's funny because you always hear those "boomer" stories about having to walk a mile and a half to school uphill both ways, but this generations story will top those
 
I am ashamed that I forgot there are many people actually suffering from this disease. And didn't even really think that they are actually trying to get over it. Not only those youth. Over 90 years old. What a tough man and woman.
Our family is now in a bit critical situation. Not about our physical but our mental. My cog and my wife's one don't work together right these days. So, we are trying to have a space between each other in our house. It's a tough time for me.

It's hard to be kind, loving, and cheerful when you're sick. Especially when part of being sick is being unable to enjoy your favorite foods. (Or any foods.)
 
She is back to her work from yesterday. She looks alright.

I've been thinking these days. Way long before I got this sickness, maybe I lost the kindness and thought to my partner. No, I love her all the time. But maybe that was selfish love. Maybe I didn't know what she really needed from me. I thought I am an intelligent man. I've been thinking that I could handle things better than anybody else for her. So I am not satisfied when things don't carry what I expected. I didn't listen to her well when she need it or she thought it was needed by me.
When I talk to her about us, I don't want to ask her where did I make mistake because that is what I should have known. She will be bothered if I do that. I need a bit more time to review myself.

My daughter Yuki will be moving to a new place in a few weeks. She is 31. She thought she need to move by now.
My wife will go with her and help her settle down. It may take a few weeks but I think it's a good opportunity to start up again for every one of us.

Sorry about pending the model building. It may take a little while to post up the model building again I will be catching up soon.

Today, I think I'm gonna clean up the rooms and bathroom. Wash up the bed sheets and make the bed. Cook something they like.
 
Relationship are far from easy. I think that, sometimes, men and women are communicating in other languages and that the result is always
misunderstood by the two parties. Frank and simple communication should be the bar to aim for...but it's the words we don't say that are the main problem. Judgement, shame and guilt are powerful weapons and they shouldn't exist in our day-to-day relation with our love ones.
I hope the few days and the distance will do you good to re-evaluate your feelings and thoughts about your relationship.
It's never easy for Mothers to see their children leave the nest. It's a different feeling for Fathers and shouldn't be compared...but it's a loss also.
