Ares: Can you post your pics of it here? Other than the two just posted, none at all have surfaced online.

Just a hunch but the finish looks like it may be enamel wood toners, extra dark walnut, cherry, light oak, brown American walnut...

I've got a couple pics too...but the glass interfered a bit.

One thing I can say having seen it in person, it has a much "redder" appearance than you'd think. But I also got to see the world premier down the street from the convention center- and in the movie it still looked pretty Bronze-y through most of the film!?!?

I wonder is there is a descrepancy between the cgi version and the actual prop? That is far more dark and brownish than the screen caps are.

Thanks MUCH for the pics!

You have to remember that the entire film has been given a "western" look and color correction to it with blown out highlights and crushed blacks in a few scenes. Looks like they had to over saturate the actual prop to get it to look right after the color correction was done to the film...

Hey I've been building a screen accurate blaster in 3D and am looking at having it 3D printed. I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in purchasing a cast and what size their wrist and forearm is? Also, would you want a fully painted cast with working LEDs and HUD? Or just a raw cast for you to paint and finish yourself? PM me with all the fun details and I'll see what I can get going...

Ok, So i bought my 7/11 cups, all taken apart. Not sure yet if I'm going to be adding more led's, but will certainly be repainting as well as adding the part for your hand. Will post pics...

Hey I'm back from SDCC! I used 2 SMD (surface mount) LED's on my HUD display. One in the center and one on the corner of the 1/4" acrylic. I used an exacto and lightly cut into one side of it and it lit right up! The LEDs are supposed to be running at 12Volts but I had them all running on a single 9v battery all weekend.

I met Jon Favreau a few times at the convention and also had the pleasure of meeting Tony that sculpted the prop as well as the ILM crew that made the CGI versions. ILM animators said there were actually several versions of the open blaster. If they needed an extra light glowing or something, they added it for that shot. It's all "alien technology!"

The movie is indeed AMAZING & is even girlfriend friendly! I told quite a few people about theRPF forums that were interested in making/buying a gauntlet, so if you were one of the many, sign up and say hi!

Pics coming tonight...

dang - I didn't even get close to Jon Favreau much less get to talk to him.

I did get some pictures of the prop in the case though if they happen to show anything not in the previous ones, and we took one fun picture of the costume all put together. Too bad those behind the scenes videos were not out a month ago...

gahh. Wish I had noticed this thread sooner. Also wish I 15 spare bucks and the gas money to go cruise around looking for these. Hopefully they will still be around after payday.

Now that the movie is out, there may be a rush on them. Snag one (or two) while you still can!

@vtswordfish--- I've got a couple you can have since I'm going for a more accurate build on mine.
I won't charge you the $25 that some on E-bay are listing them for either! PM me if you want them.

I hope the movie is as good as this thread! My wife went from not wanting anything to do with this movie, to "I want to see it this weekend!"

I told her we should take our slurpee cups with us :D

I've got my final paint ops on mine now.. pics soon. But its funny.... we were all commenting on how bad the original paint ops are on the cups, but after you weather them down, you end up with something very similar to the original paint job.. just more metallic, and with more varying hues.

Funny thing is, outside with my good camera, they look very similar. Inside with my cell phone and flash, they look "oily colorful".

(Cell phone pics posted.)
