It fit the top correctly once I sanded down the top of the glass ball. I went to three different stores looking for distilled water and every store was out. So I just bit the bullet and filled one of the balls with straight glycerin. I cannot be sure if it’s going to leak, but I used contact cement on the edge of the glass and the inside of the cap. It should be permanently glued at the moment but I won’t know until I actually turn it upside down to be sure it’s sealed. But I’m afraid to turn it upside down. LolDefinitely looks a little small on the bulb. Was the top on the original for that black piece rounded or flat? You could always have a custom one 3D modeled too if you wanted something perfect.
The neck on the larger ones I had would fit the caps. Only the 1.5 ones would. Wish you lived closer so we could work on this together. The 1.75" ornaments arrived. The cheapest ones that I could find were painted.

A little muriatic acid fixed that. There still some residual paint on the neck but it'll be hidden by the cap.

I'm liking the 1.75" ones over the others. They just seem right. The necks are quite wide though compared with 1.5"

Yeah, I would definitely make sure to work with muriatic acid outside only. The fumes can destroy tools if stored or used inside a garage or workshop along with your lungs. That’s like when I use contact cement in my kitchen. The smells are interesting to say the least. Especially when I’m not wearing any kind of mask like a dumb dumb.
The necks on the 1.75 ornaments balls measure 13.8 mm or .54" in diameter.Haven’t made any more since you mentioned getting the new size glass ball. Not sure if the tops I have would even fit in yours.
Originally I thought the cross was a cleaned up use of those white out dispensers but people here shot that idea down immediately. I’ve used the linen glued on but it doesn’t look quite right. I wish we could email with one of the prop people from the production to see what they used. The necks on the 1.75 ornaments balls measure 13.8 mm or .54" in diameter.
I've gone through numerous cap tweaks. Here's the latest design based on the photos from the Blu-ray DVD. I've increased the flute count to 16 after reviewing the details. I can see 8 on one side here or 16 around the entire cap. There also a slight lip between bevel and the top of the cap that I added.

I've been prototyping on an FDM printer so far but once I'm ok with the design, I'll move over to SLA printing.

A couple of additional observations after reviewing the higher resolution images, the glass on the ornaments likely wouldn't survive acid or laser etching. The glass is extremely thin. So the crosses are either glued or painted on.
While the close-up shot in Constantine's apartment looks etched, it maybe digitally rendered or there were different ampoule designs. These ampoules appear to have a cross on only one side.

I believe that you can see the camera reflected in the glass on the right - dead center behind the cross. The question I had was where is the reverse cross as you see here? I don't think that's a reflection. To me it looks like a magnified version of a reverse cross.

This looks like a reflection - so single or double crosses are screen accurate.

On both images, the cross looks like masked paint with the ragged edges and the reverse cross showing bleed through. The cut on the left side of the cross looks like an attempt to clean up the edges when removing the masking. I like the linen idea but it doesn't appear to be screen accurate. It could be a hand cut piece of vinyl that is glued but it doesn't explain how ragged the edges are. Opinions?
Kirk Corwin was the property master but its a long shot. Kirk Corwin - IMDb. The other place to check is the House of Props in LA. I had heard that they worked on the holy shotgun.Originally I thought the cross was a cleaned up use of those white out dispensers but people here shot that idea down immediately.
