Constantine holy water ampoules…

Okay- so for ***** and giggles, since I have the self adhesive hinging tissue, I thought that while I wait for the glass balls to arrive, I would start attempting to construct the white crosses or at least see how easy I can make them. With just a pair of scissors I’ve made 4 sets of white crosses. They are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but it’s a start.

So the black bass knobs arrived today. Not sure how they will work as there isn’t a lot of surface on the inside to mount them over the glass balls, but I’ll know better once the glass balls arrive on Tuesday.

Here are images.

I got my 1.5" ornaments in. They feel/look small. I've got 2" ones on order to compare. The one of the left is the original - the one on the right is me holding the 1.5" in a similar pose.

I'm assuming that brass is a thermal insert. I wonder if it could be tapped and then pulled out with a screw stuck in a soldering iron. On a different topic, what about epoxy putty for the plug? WaterWeld Epoxy Putty
I was thinking 2 part epoxy but I want to make sure the hole is totally plugged so the water can’t leak out.

You could have larger hands. But also, you are holding it only similarly. When using things like FINGERNAILS to compare sizes, the nails have to be at the same angle, because of perspective.

If your ornament comes down to the middle of your index finger, but the screen cap one comes down to the next digit down of his index finger, then your ball is likely too small.

I still think those 1.5 look good.

I still think those 1.5 look good.

I think it's an optical illusion. If you measure the two orbs ON SCREEN, you will see that they are the same diameter. I have a huge screen, they both measure 75mm. And that is what your eye is seeing as equal.

But there seems to be less of his hand shown, compared to the screen cap. Look at the thumb past the last joint where it attaches to the hand. The picture on the left shows more of the joint, and the right shows less of the joint. Meaning the left hand is farther from the camera. If the left hand is farther from the camera, and yet the orb still measure the same 75mm as the one on the right, then the orb would have to be bigger, due to perspective.

I think I'll reserve final judgement till I see whether the 2" looks too big.

Well I hope the 1.5 inch ones are right- I ordered 40 of them. Lol

So I purchased those bass guitar amp knobs that look accurate. I painted the top of them to hide the indicator line and I removed the tightening screws that go in the side of them but no matter what I’ve done I cannot seem to be able to pry the brass piece on the inside out of it. If I can’t remove these it’s not going to sit properly on the glass balls I believe. Any suggestions? I’ve already stabbed my left hand once trying to pry them out with a knife. Lol

You won't be able to pry them out. They're likely melted into the plastic. Depending on the profile, you may be able to heat them with a soldering iron and pull them. It'd be slow set of iteration to find the right temp and pull. The faster but uglier option is to drill them out or dremel them. You'll need good work holding to keep them from spinning and damaging the plastic.

I am going to put one of them in boiling water for a minute and see if maybe heating it up will allow the metal to release from the plastic with a slight bit of crying. Stay tuned.

I don’t currently have any hood cutting tools for my Dremel that are small enough to fit into that tight space. The boiling water didn’t work. Guess I’ll wait and see what the glass bottles look like when they arrive today and see what my options are.

Okay- so the 1.5 inch glass balls just arrived. They look too small to be honest. And without being able to remove the inside brass piece, it won’t snap down onto the glass bottle correctly. Damn.

Also- the very bottoms of the glass balls have a slight flat edge that wasn’t advertised when I ordered them. I thought they would be 100% round. Damn. Disappointing.

OK, so after trying to use a heat gun and every tool I can think of to remove the inner metal piece of the, I came to the conclusion that it’s not coming out. So I took a Dremel and I Dremel down the glass. I don’t know how well it’s really going to hold when I try to glue everything together, but it looks pretty good.
