Commander Cody Helmet build thread

Awesome work! Im a little late but I was finally able to obtain an EVO3 helmet kit. Waited almost a year for it. Did you use an airbrush for parts or were you using Tamiya's spray cans. I will be using your thread to help me finish mine. It will be my first build. Thank You for all the insight you put into this thread.

Thanks. I used Tamiya paints using airbrush for the main colours. The weathering as mentioned I used oil paints.

Spray cans will not give you the same fidelity when shading.

Get it, mugatu! It's a beauty!

Update:

Couldn't sleep, so I did the one thing that won't wake the neighbours. Stuck on the decals for the cheek stripes! The essence of Cody is beginning to show!

Also finalised the stencil for the visor markings and the orange triangles at the mic tips. Ready to send to the cutter!

Would you share that cut file?

Unfortunately I lost the template files after a bad disk crash last year. But I might still be able to find the jpg templates. Let me know if you’re interested. So note that the cheeks are decals from Evo3. I only made the brow stencil and aerators stencils.

Greetings,

I was able to luck into buying an EVO3 helmet and your build is really fantastic! I could only hope mine would look as good as yours does.

I would be interested in those stencil .jpgs also.

Many thanks for showing your process!

David
