Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

i still need to trim the faceshield to fit and do a few more cosmetic alterations, but this is kinda where i am at this point with it... the move to Atlanta caused a break in progress ;).

Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

That looks great Allfate! I'm surprised you don't have the fangs in there already.

Honestly there are so many talented people on the RPF and for a while I thought this build might not get finished.
I couldn't be happier with who ended up doing my helmet here.

I think Hyperballistik has said he would do a run of these, I wouldn't mind seeing how people interpret this costume, so many options to build it!

I actually removed the fangs and added the chin part to put in a small external speaker later. I'm a huge Cobra Commander fan, but this was built with other purposes in mind ;). If you two do decide to offer a few of these, make sure to let me know in advance so I can save up ;)

Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

Wow Allfate your helmet look really nice, It sorta has a future space suit look to it, I really like how you got all the lines to flow together, nice job, for Crabras helmet im keeping it more to the comic book style but I must say that this style helmet can be very useful to do other style helmets. I am going to mold the original helmet so I can make a lighter version of it for Crabra to wear, the one in teh pics is a little heavy with the Bondo work and all the urethane plastic I used to harden the piece, plus with the modifications im doing with the side vents I would rather have those casted in plastic so they are strong and added to the helmet, You really need to make a build thread for your helmet so everybody can see it when its finshed, and to Crabra thanks for the comments on the helmet LoL

Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

Here are a few update pictures of the Cobra Commander helmet, I have been busy all weekend doing non prop related stuff but I managed to get the vents in, I put them in using sintra and Apoxie Sculpt, I layered them so they can have the back ends cut open to be made functional so fans can be installed later, I still need to do some clean up on the vents but im about finished with the helmet and should be working on the visor buck by the end of the week, hopefully I can have this helmet finished by next week

Awww....Hyper,

I don't think I could've found a better person to build the helmet! The way you've interpreted this is fantastic!

Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

Thanks guys for the comments, you can probably see in the middle picture where the one vent piece is off a little,im going to fix that tomorrow, I just noticed it and now its going to drive me nots till I straighten it out some

Not sure if I'm going to stick to that silver or go with a brushed silver.*

Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

That's awesome, what'd you use to paint it? And did you seal it first? I just got some foam in to begin working on a small project.

Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

Looks good Daniel,

Can't wait to see the gauntlets...

Just so you guys don't think I'm just sitting here twiddling my thumbs, I have the boots, cape, belt clip, and diamond pins.

Also I have some color remover and the dark blue dye. I will be dying the pants tomorrow...first time doing it, hopefully it looks good.

Can anyone recommend a method to do it? I want the colors to look the same but am concerned about ruining my combat shirt, with it's velcro...

I've always heard to use warm water. Or hot, actually. But, the Dharma Trading Company website has some tips on how to do it, I just got some dye, color remover and soda ash fixative from them. If my shirt and pants would get here I could start. I've dyed 1/6th scale clothing before and have had mixed results with the color remover from RIT. Figured for something life sized I'd try some of the good stuff.

Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

Ok so I did get quite a bit done but I'm not done painting yet... Lol hope you like it!
