Unlimited Run Cobra Commander helmet: GI Joe Retaliation

Oz,

If the "sandwich" method doesn't pan out.
I would definitely like to have my faceplate done with the auto clear.

The dulling of the chrome isn't a big deal.

Thanks
Darkzygote

I agree as well. If the sandwich method doesn't pan out, I think I will go with the auto clear coat as well, as it sounds like it provides the best protection. Looking forward to your continued updates!

I'm good with auto clear, though I was wondering if a second lacquer clear visor might be possible? At additional cost, of course. Though if he sandwich works, then great. Hrh

The new inner sleeves fit perfectly. I'll get the rest of the batch run today and finish up final assembly. Should start shipping out finished order next week. You'll each get shipping notices when yours goes out along with tracking information.

Thanks again to everyone for bearing with me on the long wait. I've been juggling a mountain of work since January but I didn't want to sacrifice quality on these by taking shortcuts.

That's super great Oz! Thanks for taking this extra step, leaves me with questions so I have sent a pm asking my first question. That's great about the further shipping information as well.! Thanks for the kind words towards us for the wait. I have mentioned it before but the wait is totally worth it to have such a talented professional such as yourself making it possible for us to own something with such details and quality. You're One of a kind Oz for these reasons and more! Even with How busy you have been, you never gave up and I for One will forever be grateful! This has definitely been some great First's for me!

Awesome, Oz!
Again, thanks for the update!
I don't mind waiting on great quality. Though, i must confess i can't wait to check these out hands on!

Like others here have said, GREAT update! We all are very appreciative of the extra mile you've gone on this project for everyone! All your hard work will be well worth the wait I'm sure! Thanks for keeping us all updated on a regular basis with this! I look forward to your continued progress and very much look forward to your next update!:cool

awesome to hear the inner sleeve works OZ. I too have no problem waiting for a stellar product. Looking forward to getting the new visor

I hope you don't mind my input.. I know this isn't a build thread but I thought I could help as I've spent a lot of time playing with chrome paints. You can spray a 2K over the chrome and keep much better reflectivity than with any rattle can clear. Use a 4:1 clear thinned with 2 parts IPA, and force dry. It won't be a perfect mirror finish obviously, but it's just about the best I've found. For the sandwich, you mentioned 3 visors? One tinted black visor with chrome sprayed on the face, and one clear to cover that, should give you great visibility and offer ample protection and I believe it's how they did it for the film.

I see you are in Florida as well! Perhaps we should get together sometime and sling some paint. I've bumped into your work a few times at Reynolds.

Hope this helps somewhat.. best of luck with your run! :thumbsup

Interesting! Enjoyed Reading this, and very cool if you ever get to sling some paint with OZ As well as reading about you bumping in to his work at Reynolds ( where and whatever that is :)

Quick update and apologies. I've got all of the finished orders in paint and final assembly but Disney threw a wrench in the works early last week and I've been having to put in 16 hour days, 7 days a week since then to get this job delivered by next Monday. That means that I have to put you guys on hold while I sprint to the finish on this beast. This is the last week though, and the finished orders will be able to resume shipping by Tuesday.

I wish I could post pics of what I'm working on but the mouse frowns on any behind-the-scenes photos leaking out. :( But since the movie is already out, I guess I can mention that I'm getting to build props for the Sanctum Sanctorum. So yeah, this is a really cool one to work on.

Thanks for the Update Oz! Very Very cool about your work with Disney. As always hearing about your work makes the "waiting" far less painful! Just adds to the excitement of being able to tell how Awesome the Artist that is making our helmets is!
