Still waiting on the final from the machinist since she said they need some more time to price because the parts need to be machined on 12 sides, which his very time consuming and costly.

Really interested seeing this run. Was just wondering about 2 things.
How accurately have we come with the Kylo? Is this the most accurate we will ever get with? Also, is there the possibility of a full metal version and what would its price be?

Ok, so here is the deal... I'll be contacting everyone on the list to find out where they stand.
Machine shop prices are back. It's not good. The price per hilt is 680 Euros plus shipping. This isn't taking into account any money for me to do the resin casting, it's purely the cost of the machined parts, silicone for molds and resin. I'm willing to do the casting for free, just to get this out there, I just need people willing to cover the costs of the machining and materials to get this going.
The original quotes they gave me were based on a lesser amount of machining and after the machinist had more time to check the details, he had to raise the price due to the amount of time and detail on the piece.
So what this means is that that price savings I had hoped to achieve didn't happen.
Right now, the cost of the hilts sits at 690 Euros per hilt when combined with the detail parts being cast in Resin. A full CNC would likely be in the range of 900-1000 Euros per hilt.
Parts that would be CNC will be the endcap, the grip, the emitter, the 2 quillion emiters, the large piece on the back of the saber emitter and the sleeve that goes over the upper cutout.
Resin parts would be the exposed core at the bottom, the cable holders, the cutout, the button, the clover screw, the 3 emitter plugs (when blades are removed) and the quillion shoulder.
So the entire structure and every part that you will touch regularly is CNC aluminium, and the detail parts are resin. Everything that gives the saber it's structural integrity to allow for a weighty hilt you can smash against other sabers is made from alu and will hold up to heavy dueling.
I still intend to keep the list going for a bit to see if we can generate enough people to get the project moving. Once I get 30 people on the list who know and accept the new pricing and details, I will call for deposits and hold them in Escrow for the machine shop. The shop requires a 50% down payment to start production, and 50% once finished. Once I provide them with the 50% to start, they will make me 1 saber and ship it to me so that I can double check everything is as expected, and I will give the go ahead for the other 49 sabers to be built.
Please let me know ASAP where you stand.
