CCX remodeling ! into X-WING RED2

I love your dedication to the subject Atom, it'll be an awesome X-Wing once done and I know the paintjob will be top notch after having seen your 1/48 Red 2 !

Hi! Julien-san!
Thank you for your kind words.:)
Your comments remind me that I have not contributed my 1/48 X-WING pics on this forum yet.

I built FM 1/48 X-WING about three years ago. This was a trial build for SS-RED2.
I thought FM released this 1/48 X-WING for younger generation than me.
From another point of view, it was necessary for me SS-builder to add various modification on it.
I made pics of " FAMOUS SPACESHIPS OF FACT AND FANTASY book" by composite pics of my 1/48 X-WING.:thumbsup
Would you look at these?

I love your pics ! You should put them in black and white and it would be perfect ! You really nailed the paintjob of this bird. :thumbsup

Droid strip was finished except ticonderoga part.:)

The ticonderoga-problem has not solved yet.
I think attached pics. NO.2 or NO.3 is correct.
What do you think? :confused

Now I think option #3 would be correct after some geometry work...

In case #2, the green and red lines would cross at the same point which is not the case, it indicates that the Ticon part is glued at an angle...

So, that's your secret!? I still find that hard to follow...you're a scientist.

Edit: Oh, now I see, those are perspective lines. Cool thinking. Yes, I agree with 3

Julien. Scott, Moska!
I agreed all of you!

At last the ticonderoga-problem was able to be settled.:cheers
Great!

In comparison with pic of RED2 and RED3, I think thickness of 1.2mm styrene sheet is too much, so I gonna change it to a little bit thinner one.
Anyway, Julien, you showed us wonderful solution. You are super hero!:lol

Beautiful build thread.
Thanks for sharing all of this with us.
Just goes to show that kit builds are not just kit builds.
I recently got a Scott Alexander CC XWing & this will help a lot figuring out which direction to take it.

I think 1.2 thick plate added to the deck would be just fine, that depends how much they sanded it down !

That's trick is very useful, I use it all the time, glad it helps !

Wow, another great find! Great geometrical analysis Julien.

Comparing to the pyro strip which is rough but original and this angle is there. There is always something else to find with this model, which is why its so much fun.

Hi! omes72:)

Hello! Nighteyes:)
I think the new discovery will be borne by scratch building. The more people build SS X-WING by scratch, the more new discovery may be born.

Wow! Your attention to detail is amazing!! This has to be one of the best threads I've seen on here in a long time.
