Question regarding the Estes 'Maxi Brute' X-wing kit

Hi there.

Every once in a while I read that the Estes 'Maxi Brute' X-Wing flying model rocket kit was lifted from the molds of real filming models.

Is there any validity to that?

This article says they're the same size as the filming miniatures. Starship Modeler: Gallery (Star Wars)

I've seen others that say the fuselage is the the same as a pyro.

The last I remember is that they followed the models closely and are very accurate, but don’t actually have direct lineage as far as molds go.

Yeah surprisingly close to the pyro/hero shells, but not "lineage"

As I've been buying kits for the Falcon, I've realized that many of those same kits were used on the X-Wing. So was thinking of giving that a go at some point. I was just curious to know if the Maxi Brute kit was a good starting point. At least for the fuselage anyway, and it sounds like it is.
